Cruise Control

Featured Replies

I have a 51 plate Elegance Estate.

Can the cruise control stork be retro fitted?

I've seen adverts from this company

the same company is selling the storks with fitting on eBay as well.

Simple question... is it a reliable company?

Yep a 2001 Elegance should be fine for fitting.

Awesome GTI they are a site sponsor, so no issues there.

Thanks.

I'll give them a call in the next day or so.

You can check the "drive by wire" feature, but reving the engine to 2000rpm (when stationary), and press on the brake with your left foot. The revs should drop to idle (or just above). Releasing the brake pedal and the revs should go to 2000rpm.

What is Drive-By-Wire?

Is this where the car will not stall, but happily drive along without use of the accelerator.

I have worked out that if I am travelling along in (say) 5th and take my foot off the accelerator, the car slows until the point of stalling. Yet it wont stall, but It continues to drive along at bout 25-30mph.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive_by_wire

"Drive-by-wire, DbW, by-wire, or x-by-wire technology in the automotive industry replaces the traditional mechanical and hydraulic control systems with electronic control systems using electromechanical actuators and human-machine interfaces such as pedal and steering feel emulators."

Its to do with throttle cable or sensor really

Simple terms I understand
