No starter

Featured Replies

I drove home for lunch today, and when I went to start the VRS up to go back in there was nothing - the dash lights and radio worked fine though. No clicks, no whirring. Nothing.

Decided to walk in and sort it tonight.

Called the AA as I could not see anything a miss, upgraded to homestart for £13.50 for my remaining two months and within 6 minuted the guys was here.

He found a broken wire - thin red/black one that connected to the starter solenoid, it has broken off completely. (its located under the battery).

Looks like a design fault as theres little if any play in the wire length-wise.

New spade connector and a soldered joint in the wire and hey presto, all good. Radio self learned its code and all's good!!

hope this may prove useful if this happens to anyone in the future.

Very common fault, happens on the SEAT Leon as well.
