Fabia non start

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have a 2002 fabia 2.0 AZL that wont start, engine just spins over.

The following fault are displayed

17972 P1564

17953 P1545

Any advice much appreciated as i am desperate to get this car back on the road.

I should point out that i have already cleaned the throttle body

both faults are pointing to a throttle body failure, Have you tried aligning the throttle body?

Attempted to re set throttle body this morning but it wont let me do it due to the faults remaining present.

Sounds as though you need a new throttle body then

thats what it looks like, i was hoping someone might of had the same problem as the throttle body is over 400 pounds

Is it me or is this another version of a thread. I only ask as I'm sure I replied to it elsewhere about battery and then cleaning the TB before replacing it.

do you need to get the TB aligned if you are just cleaning carefully? anyway to clean it without knocking it out of alignment?

If you have unbolted the TB but left the wiring connected and only sprayed and gently brushed the TB then it should be okay to survive without performing re-alignment, but, doing a re-alignment might improve things. Maybe while you are in there clean up round about where the EGR inlet is beside the TB - to make sure that the end of that pipe is clear - or at least the port it connects to is clear.

Remember never be tempted to force the flap about as that could knock out the characteristics of the TB as you could end up distorting the linkage..

thanks rum4mo. what kind of sprays can I use? what would you recommend?

Carb/clutch/brake cleaner or similar will do nicely, it's solvent based so will evaporate.
