VAG iPod adapter into Bolero

Featured Replies

Right then, when i got rid of me Audi A3 I took back out the iPod adapter that I bought and installed for it.

I then decided that i would use this instead of the AUX socket in between the seats.

The other idea i had was to stick it in the cubby hole on the dash. Saved fiddling around and messing with the glovebox. Plus I had no use for it anyway.

Firstly I had to remove the centre console trim. This was easy enough, open the ash tray, put your fingers under and pull. it gets fiddly towards the top so be carefull.

Then the trim on the bolero, again fiddly but its a case of pulling it off.

once this is off there are four screws to undo then it just pulls out. Unclip the Quadlock, then take out the arial by pressing/pulling the clip.

I simply took out the aux adapter from the quadlock and plugged the iPod one in.

I had to cut the thick brown wire and join this to the iPod one.

Then the top cubby hole/air vents.

Get something under the front corner and lift it all the way along the front, then the back will release. Undo the Hazzard button electrics and the unit pops out.

wired it all up and re fitted all trim.

You'll see that it makes the CD changer redundant. playlists are CD's and there are no names anywhere. I might sell and get a Dension for the names.

otherwise its much better than the AUX port. control on the Bolero for one.

Here's a pic of the climate screws:
