Fto or honda prelude vtec?

Featured Replies

I'd put in a vote for the Prelude, as long as you avoid the auto gearbox. I had one as a company car for a while, and the sound when the VTEC kicks in is awesome, and the 4 wheel steering is clever, but expensive if it breaks. The VR4 is very nice indeed, but you'd better have deep pockets, as it drinks the gas.

Just out of interest, does this apply to any nation that has caused pain or misery on another?

I shouldn't have posted that - I awoke early after a night on the p1ss and I was probably still half cut.

Anyway, my point is that the Japanese as a nation have no regrets or shame about what happened in the 1930s / 40s - for example, a Japanese school textbook now states that most Chinese welcomed the Japanese invasion of the 1930s!!

In comparison, the Germans faced up to what they did in the 1930s and 40s - of course they could never come remotely close to righting such horrific wrongs but they made massive reparation payments and opened to their doors to immigrants in post-WWII West Germany.

Max Hastings made the point that he cannot regard the Japanese as a truly civilized nation, not because of the acts committed by a previous generation, but because of the complete lack of regret shown by subsequent generations.

Fair enough. My wife was a nurse on a dialysis unit for years. One of her patients was a prisoner of war at the hands of the Japanese in WW2. She said he occasionally used to tell her about what happened and cried whilst doing so. I can see where you're coming from.

Just thought id follow this thread up, drove my mate's fto last weekend it's a v6 mivec tiptronic........and if im being honest ... i loved it!

I was quiet surprised by this little jap car! the first thing is that v6 it sounds sweet i also loved driving the car using the tiptronic box just tap the gear lever up or down to change gears very quick gear change too. My next surprise is that mad 8k rev limit, i was given it some and thinking it's not that quick then relising i was changing gear at 5.5k rpm

Another blast upto about 7k rpm and feck me it seems to fly! ! it's by no means slow, but loves the revs, is still fairly quick at slower speeds in a high gear, but you would need to change down for any real go not like the turbo thrust of the vrs.

I dont think i could use an fto everyday as i like lazy low down power for day to day driving but for a weekend blast hell yeah!

This car love's the bendy stuff to handles very well with very little roll and stable, i hear an fto calling me ....roll on the weekends

If you like the car then that's great. I have based all my presumptions on data in magazines and how the car looks. I've never been a fan of the styling at all. There are a few round here and every time I see one, it confirms I don't like them. However, if it drives well, floats your boat and gives you 'that' feeling, then go for it.

Vw Corrado VR6 Job Done emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I don't want to start a fight on the subject, but IMO this indicates a lack of understanding of the Japanese culture and psyche. Read "Shogun" by James Clavell, and bear in mind when doing so that the book was written by a PoW who survived the Burma Railway.

Have you had a look at the Prelude web forum?? Was thinking about one before driving a octy vrs My link

I have read about Japanese culture and psyche - it just made it clear to me that their values are totally alien to Westerners and don't begin to excuse their brutality - I'll still give their products a miss, thanks (although I do admit to having a Mizuno sports bag and umbrella  ).

Anyway, I should have left well alone - this doesn't belong in General Car Chat.
