Hello fellow Briskoda members...

Collected my new VRS on Thursday - absolutely over the moon, bloody fantastic...

A question for you all, been doing my head in! How do you change the kph readout in the maxidot to mph?

You can't. It's in KMH for when you drive in Europe. For MPH you got the the normal display.

I believe it's a legal requirement to have both.

Why they just don't replace the old fashioned analogue speedo dials with nice clear & easy to read digital ones that you can change at a push of a button I don't know.

But they're ideal for driving abroad, a mate had one in a Fiat and at the press of a button it went from mp/h to km/h & vv. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thank you for confirming my fear... can't be done! Balls!

Shame it can't be programmed to read out something else like average consumption and have the kph as a view option on the scroll button - would make sense as when you go abroad you can scroll down and show the kph.

All right, I can reluctantly accept the fact that you can not change the digital speedo readout from kph to mph.

But I cannot accept the fact, that on all the current Octy models, except for the vRS, the speedo readout markings are in 20 mph increments starting at 20 then 40/60/80 etc etc.

More sensibly the vRS markings are every 10mph, up to 80mph. Also the non vRS speedo 70mph occurs at about 5 to 12 where as the vRS it's about 5 past 12. Again quite wrong in my opinion.

Some posters have said that you do get used to these difficult markings in time, but why should you when there is already an acceptable alternative, on a similar model, in the same product range. How simple would it have been for all the cars to have speedos with 10 mph markings with an overlay of the equivalent kph?

Can some one please give me just one good reason behind the illogical thinking’s for taking these decisions, so I can sleep peaceably at night?

Why make life simple when it’s so much nicer to follow the difficult route and make all, except vRS usurers, suffer the consequences of a bad design.

You're not alone,

I've got a 55 plate Octy (not a VRS), the speedo is nice & clear,

70mph is about 5past the hour.

They've even marked 120 & 130kmh individually, for when you're abroad.

However on newer cars all the legal UK speeds are crammed into less than half of the dial.

Even on 1.2 Fabia they provide a ridiculously spaced speedo.

Perhaps everyone with these tiny speedos should pass their speeding points & fines onto Skoda,

as they've been negligent in providing a speedo that's rubbish for the uk.

You can imagine the conversation with the traffic officer ...

"Do you know what speed you were doing sir ?"

"No idea, the speedo dial is ridiculously cluttered up"

"Oh I see, one of those Skodas, yes, we know about those, on your way sir, sorry to trouble you ..."
