Don't you just hate it when...

You spend 4 hours cleaning/polishing your car and it tips down with rain.

That is all. :giggle:

Indeed! Mildly depressing isn't it :giggle: :'(

Always used them myself until yesterday when I visited a Car/detailing Valeting supplier who remarked only for use on windows and keep an eye on contact edge as can do more damage than you think to our paintwork. emoticon-0124-worried.gif

:o Seems odd that a silicone blade can scratch the paintwork. I would have thought providing you give it a good clean first (to remove all grit etc) it should not cause any scratches.

To be honest I thought the same.

Think they mustve thought the risk of dirt remaining in the blade (even after cleaning)was to high to use it on paintwork?

Beg's the question why the Big Dryer cloths they recommended and I bought would be any different?!

Yep. Its just the same as using a cloth with grit on :giggle: not a good idea...

Easy to avoid - just check/ clean the blade before use. :) and don't drop ya cloths on the ground. :giggle:

Have to agree. Wash car, it either rains, or birds poo on it, or if nice weather, pollen lands on it. As for the drying blades, most on detailing world have a hairy fit if you mention using one  I like them, and if you wipe it across the palm of your hand after every pass, the chances of scratching the paint is almost null. Rinsing the car with an open hose to sheet water off keeps drying time to a minimum. Leaf blower works as well  Neighbors will think your mental though . :p

I just use a car wiper blade. Never leaves a mark but have to check it for dirt before using it.

But as for the OP - YES, winds me right up :wall:

Me and a friend spent 8 hours doing his Mini the other day - and then the heaviest rain I've seen for while came. Gosh darn it!

You got to admit though after it's stopped raining you get some epic water beading! ;)

Still a bit of a bugger though when you've spent all day cleaning it! :(

Yes I hate it too. Although it far better than having to work in it like I did today.... :(

I've been busy detailing mine friday & sat In my dads garage. Just as I thought I'd have to drive It home In the rain, my mate turned up with some paint for the calipers, so I used the wet paint excuse to keep It nice & dry In the garage for another night :giggle:

I hate it when you clean your white alloys wheels up, and then 1 short drive in the wet means they are filthy again! :dull:

I was at a show and Autoglym had a stand there selling the water blade thingys , the guy from autoglym said for best results to soak the blade in warm water before use to soften the silicone , then to dip in a bucket of warm water between wipes , to stop the scratches . . . still dont like the things tho , stick to my waffle cloth

Water Blade = High Risk of Scratching.............
