HTC Desire - OEM Bluetooth sync problem

Featured Replies

Finally got my hands on a Desire - been running for just over a week now and very impressed. Battery life is poor, but expected this. Got some widgets installed now to overcome some of the limitations e.g. the notification LED that stops blinking after 5 minutes :)

Anyway - I've got it hooked up to the OEM bluetooth in my Octavia with no issues.

I've previously had 2 Sony phones working with the bluetooth flawlessly - they connect within about 20 seconds of getting in the car, and I always leave the phone in my jacket which generally gets stowed in the boot.

The Desire however, takes anywhere from 20 seconds (rarely) to 7/8 minutes to connect - this is not forcing the connection, just letting the 2 of them sort themselves out now the initial pairing is out of the way, just how I have done with the Sonys.

Have other people got the Desire pairing with OEM bluetooth? What kind of times is it taking yours to connect?

Although I can't comment on the OEM bluetooth side of things we have a Kenwood (I think!) stereo with bluetooth built in and I have had no problems whatsoever with the HTC Desire and this.

Once I had got the initial pairing done it now connects within about 20-30 secs of turning the stereo on.

Seems odd that it is taking so long for yours to connect sometimes.

Don't really know what to suggest or which (either the stereo or the phone) is slowing things down.

Yes strange isn't it - I don't think it's a distance thing (thought maybe the Bluetooth signal wasn't as strong in the Desire as with my Sony phones) as I've had the phone on the passenger seat for the last couple of days as a test, still getting the delay :(

As I said I got my HTC Desire today and after a load of swapping numbers, installing memory & sim cards I took my phone down to the car and paired it up within about 3 minutes. It didn't want to know at first but that was probably down to my inexperience with the phone, but it works ok!

Had it for a few weeks now and still very pleased. I went through the pain barrier a couple of years ago and transferred my whole life to Google - paid dividends when I fired up the Desire, every contact perfectly synced within a couple of minutes - bliss :)

Still got the same bluetooth issue though - it always pairs, but often takes a few minutes into the journey to do so. Just a bit annoying as my Sony would religiously pair after about 10 seconds.

Waiting for Frodo to come out now...

Mine syncs within seconds with my Parrot but I had to turn off all linking with any other contacts (Facebook etc), not use Friend Stream and remove all contact photos for it to sync the contacts with the Parrot at all. Otherwise it just kept failing. Basically you can just have Exchange/ phone contacts only and no pictures for that to work.

Not sure it's relevant to you but worth fiddling with as it might behave in a similar way.
