Creaking

Featured Replies

I had a free safety check from Skoda in April and was given an advisory that the front wishbone bushes and anti roll bar were slightly deteriorated. I was out last night and notice when slowing down and then accelerating I was getting a creaking sound. I'm guessing this means the bushes/anti roll bar are ready for replacement.

My questions are, the car has 47K, is this right for wear and tear? Or is it something that shouldn't have gone?

Approx cost of how much Skoda would charge for the work?

Can this work be done by a non approved retailer without affecting the warranty?

Apologies if these questions have been asked previously, but I couldn't find the answers I was looking for!

Cheers

I can only answer part of your question

It is not uncommon for this to be replaced. I replaced my console bushes at 49k (last month). It cost me £70 labour 2 hours. I bought uprated console bushes online from awesome. The front wishbones however are generally more durable than the larger voided ones. If you do get the work done you may as well also budget to get the console bushes done at same time.

I recently had my anti-roll bar linkages replaced by the dealers at 31,515 at a cost of £77.66+VAT. I think its pretty common.

about to change my farb links at 53000 miles matey so looks like its about right. best bet is to phone the waranty people and ask them, just to make sure.

UPDATE

Rang Skoda dealership and they want to charge £287 to replace 2 front lower arm bushes, anti roll bar, and 2 other bits to go with them. Sorry can't remember parts.

Am I getting my eyes ripped out???!!

Sounds fair, ARB is £60 without labour, bushes will be £25 for the two and the other things? So probably 3 hours labour?

I would give Elite autos a try on the Mandale triangle in stockton independant Vw audi and Skoda had my se serviced there great bloke called phill wont take your eyes out either give him a try

Can understand the bushes being worn, even at this mileage... but the anti roll bar? Have you hit something in the road?
