Featured Replies

Can anyone help?? Or has anyone either done this before or removed the handle and can shed some light on how to do it?. Ive brought the little bit of the rear handle, the part where the lock is on the drivers door. I want to de lock and before i jump in feet 1st and lose my rag lol i would be grateful for any info that will assist me.

hi mate, so basically you are delocking front handle?

kit comes in 3 parts, outer plastic cover (to be painted) inner lock barrel replacement and should be small metal blanking disc (about size of a 5p)

basically open door and look at end on, there are a couple of screw that hold on the nadle/lock mecanism, undo but dont remove, mine took about 8 turns, if you undo too much the screw will fall into door and require door card removal.

Once loose you can remove barrel and cap, then glue metal disc in the hole for the lock mechanism (you will see this). You need to adjust the door pull cord on handle, prise out the clip and adjust accordingly (this will make sense if you look at it) then refit metal lock barrel replacement and do up 2 screws accordingly. Finally fit new plastic trim blank.

Thats it iirc, hope that helps a bit.

Ps its worth noting, once you delock, if the fuse blows with the deadlocks on you are in trouble.

I relocated the fuse location by extending a new fuse holder into my bottom dash trim so that if the fuse blows i can get to the fuse without having to break open the door.

It's not a de lock kit mate it's the actual bit in red from a rear door that I will be fittin.

Cheers for the info

lol now im lost!

I've took the top screw out, wound the bottom one out and still no joy. The bit I've got is from the drivers side rear handle so its the same as the front but no lock mechanism showin it's just a red blank lol

You still need to fit a disc into the hole where the lock barrel would sit into otherwise your door/car can be opened with a screwdriver

yup you need a disc as said and also the inner blanking piece that the cap (red bit) fits over, can buy the kit from ebay (vwtesside) for about £9, without fitting the disc and blanking lock piece you will be able to open the car as bertee said with a screwdriver.

Bertee I've sent u the pics of the bit I've got as it won't let me upload them lol.

hi mate, so that looks the same as the delock kit, you still need that disc or may be use a 5p as it looks very similar in size, you could glue it in.

there are 2 screws that need releasing, then pull open handle and you should be able to get the barrel out......(i hope, it is fiddly and will require some movement to release)

Cheers mate

there isn't a hole in the bit I've got to glue a 5p in lol.

I'm leavin it now till I get bk to work as I've run out of patience with it.

Cheers

Si

The hole is inside the door.

It is where the back of the lock barrel was sitting into, so when you turn the key it turns the mechanism.

yup was just gonna say the same as bertee

Cool, will have a look when I get bk to work and there no heavy objects lyin around for me to throw at it lol.

lol, do you have access to a bench grinder, think 5p is just about right but might need to take down the edges a tiny bit to get it to fit in the hole, it should be obvious if you look in once you have that pesky lock mechanism out the way!

if that all fails i have a crowbar and grinder you can borrow to get it out
