The Octavia that I bought earlier in the year is registered with these people and on careful inspection of the windows has their registration and phone number etched into the glass, its supposed to act as a deterent to thieves and or cloners. Now they want £20 from me to transfer the details. I've never heard of them and wondered if anyone else had any dealings with them?

Yes they are a legit organisation, many car manufacturers use them and have their code numbers etched on the windows instead of the registration number, better for you if you want to put a private number on your car. You'll find the company name is "Retainagroup" these are the people who deal with this in the UK and are based near Ashford. If you send off your £20 cheque with the change of details form you will get the amended details back within a few weeks.
