it measures the amount of air going to it which in turn allows the ecu to deliver the correct air:fuel ratio

this is my basic understanding of it.

You mean MAP I think. It's a pressure sensor, I believe the ecu uses it to measure boost pressures as it is between the turbo and the intake manifold. You also have a MAF sensor which is on the hose between the air filter and turbo that measures the air flow going into the turbo.

MAP sensor on pd130 (and other cars I believe) also measures the air intake temperature, and will retard the engine/fuelling if it is a bit hot. :)

Yeah map i ment!! Im guessn through your ecu port thibg you can measure boost pressures and intake temps, im running 1.9 bar

Anyone know what happens if the MAP sensor dies??? A jerky acceleration and plumes black smoke??? :wonder:

Mines jerks on full boost now and again

are you john holmes? :p

are you john holmes? :p

dont know who he is am from the 80's not the 50's :p

anyone know at what stage a 3 bar map sensor is required,

im running 1.9 bar and believe im still on the 2 bar map sensor

what are the differences?

When you run more than 2 Bar of Boost :D

You can of course still run more than 2 bar with a 2Bar sensor (Assuming the Turbo is capable) but the Ecu will not see it & be able to adjust the Fuel accordingly, Replacing with a 3 Bar unit removes the Ecu's white stick :giggle:

ahh maybe ill just whack a 3 bar map sensor on it then
