Skoda (UK) website

Featured Replies

I've often seen comments on here about the glitches on the Skoda (UK) web site.

The latest (albeit not an Octavia matter) is their sneak preview of the new Fabia vRS. Here they have a few pictures of its sporting credentials; the DSG gearbox gear knob (which I personally think is ghastly), followed by a picture of the sporty steel pedals - and yes, including a clutch pedal - classic Skoda UK.

And yet in their 'awards' section they apparently won the "2008 Auto Trader Click Awards - Škoda wins website of the year" as the website voted ‘Motor Manufacturer Website of the Year’ at the Auto Trader Click Awards 2008.

I guess their Web Designer was immediately moved into a new role and the site has gone downhill ever since.

Could not agree more ! absolute rubbish and certainly one of the poorest mfrs sites.

It is desperate. I wonder why an upcoming brand cannot have a site to match it's fellow VAG brothers. Shocking

The thing that p's me off the most is that here in the UK we represent a decent chunk of Skoda's sales but they can't even use right hand drive cars in their English website or brochures.

The lack of a configure-ator for 6 months is shocking!

It's one of my hobbies, building virtual cars!

I'm with Steve on the configurator  You should see my rolls phantom i'm building on the iphone... :giggle:

It seems to be unique to Skoda UK all the faults. Crap website, poor options choices etc.

Well spotted :D

I'm a web developer and I agree its poor.

Having said that, I don't think any car manufacturer's that I've seen have amazing sites, they rely far too heavily on Flash.

One of the projects I'm involved with at work is a tool called Nibbler that tests websites and gives them a score out of 10. The Skoda UK website gets 7.1 - http://nibbler.silktide.com/reports/www.skoda.co.uk

I agree with all the comments about the SUK website, however it doesn't seem to be having much of an effect on sales, given the waiting time on most models.

One thing that is good is that you don't have to give details to download a brochure, but apart from that it is pants.

Apparently the clutch pedal is now linked to the (non existent sun roof), and will eject the wife if she gets out of order. 7 speed DSG with flappy paddles and a clutch  Now that's clever.

My brother used to have a Mk 3 Cortina which had a foot pump for the screen wash, so maybe Skoda have developed that into using a pedal, thereby being able to exert extra pressure to get a faster jet of water on the screen

Wow! - that brought back memories - I had one of those too. It was a rubber bulb with a metal ring around it that was a switch to power the wipers.

Another possibility is that they have adopted the horrendous Mercedes foot operated parking brake...

What next - ye olde Ford wiper system ( powered off the engine vacuum) .

Probably only available on the Greenline models. ;)

Do you mean British? or Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish

or just English?

I'm old enough to remember foot operated dip switches, and rubber buttons on the dash for the windscreen washers. In fact I was on about my third car before I even had windscreen washers. :)

I can remember writing to them about that and also the fact that you could find out a persons address by putting in the reg plate of their car when it first came out.

To be fair to them, they did take it seriously, but then the wording of the complaint didn't leave them much choice.
