Headlights

Featured Replies

On my Octavia 2002 1.9TDI 90bhp

It looks like a single headlight with I presume H4 bulbs in it and to the side is the foglight which actually looks like a projector light which I assumed was the headlight.

Is it possible to change the headlight for a projector type with seperate hi/low lights? ideally ones with HID in it?

or are these even available for a 2002 Octavia?

IF they are, any idea how much 2nd hand or new, where to go looking and how easy to fit etc?

Hi Lew

I have not come across the 1.9GTI but on my sons L&K the light that you say is a projector lamp is the low beam, and the high beam

is to the side along with the fog.

so withourt seeing it sounds like you have HID's ( one way to check, turn your lights on, and start the car, does the headlights adjust ?

Radiotwo

Ps I don't think they did GTI do you mean TDi ?

Sorry - type yes it's a TDI

Can't check the actual lights till tomorrow, her who must be obeyed is out at work with the car so once I get up tomorrow I'll check it properly.

fogs are the projector part of the healight unit not the actual main/dipped beam in normal octy headlights (unless specified when bought or in L&K models) iirc.

the headlights are twin bulb h4s and are reflector units by design.

to get secondhand headlights with headlight projectors too is quite hard as there werent many cars with these units fitted, new are silly money from dealers.

the easiest way around it if you want xenon is to retrofit hid bulbs, i have just got some h4 bixenon retrofit hids which work really really well as far as i can tell.

the other thing i may do is retrofit audi projector units into my headlight housing, this is not the easiest route but is the cheapest to get projector headlights.
