Problem with spontaneous locking

Featured Replies

I have a slightly older fabia with a boot lever next to the driver's seat and no boot button on the fob.

The problem I'm having is that the car will spontaneously lock itself, whenever, wherever. If I'm driving,or if the car is off. There's no set distance or time when it does it, and sometimes it will then unlock itself and do it again. It only does it when the car has been unlocked with the fob, and doesn't unlock itself if I have locked it with the fob. It will unlock when I try to get out, though only if the driver door is opened. It may then relock when the driver door is shut.

Sometimes I just hear some locking mechanism go,but I cant identify which door (if any) has locked itself as I'm usually driving, and then it may or may not choose to lock all the doors.

Obviously this is an inconvenience, can anyone help? or perform an exorcism?

I have split this post from the original thread since it is a different problem. Let's hope you get some useful advice from our members.

Sounds like a faulty micro switch in one of the doors.

My 2p FWIW......

Is it possible the fob is faulty?

It may be worth taking the battery (batteries?) out of the fob to see if the problem persists.
