Superb Alarm issue

Featured Replies

The alarm in my 09 Superb Elegance has 'gone off' couple of times recently during the night. The car is parked in a locked garage - no drafts or animals involved.

Is there a sensitivity adjustment that I could possibly handle or is it a job for the dealer?

Yes, sensitivity can be adjusted, but if alarm was activated in garage I doubt it will help.

You can't do it with VCDS because you have to enter the code to be able to recode the alarm ECU, so only registered VAG service can do it.

Thanks....I'll put it on my list for the dealer!!

Mine has gone off twice the same evening before, the cause for me seemed to be that the tailgate was not shut properly so the alarm was triggered when it thought someone had opened the boot. Try using the twindoor as a hatchback and then close it again, for me at least that stopped it going off. may also be worth checking that all 4 doors and bonnet sensor.

Might be worth reading this thread (if you haven't already) as jcblincs and Richf (the new owner of the car) have had similar problems with the alarm - not sure if it has finally been sorted?

Thanks Gizmo - read the suggested thread which also leads to other threads etc. All very interesting particularly the discussion about microwaves and Blackberry phones. There is RF everywhere in the modern house - for eg we have remote controlled garage doors, TV, ceiling fans etc. Getting to the stage to need a remote to find the remotes. Thing is , the alarm sets off when we're in bed. I'll talk to the dealer but you know what that is like after the car is sold! There is one thing I've just thought about - my wife has a 1995 Honda Civi that is parked beside my Skoda. The civic has a fault in the auto door locking system (not remote - only keys) and the doors periodically lock/unlock when unattended. This is not RF but!!!!!!!

Alarm ECU logs xx last events that triggered the alarm, and you can read that event list using VCDS, so with that you can know what caused the alarm to go off....
