Just seen this, Shire Tuning...

Anyone know if they do a good tune?

Im after one a bit more local to Colchester , Essex but seeing as thats AMG who want £400 i think its worth me travelling around the country to get a better deal.

Be a good excuse to 'run the car in' after a remap anyway...

Dunno mate mine cost 240 or somthing like that, prices vary heard some people pay 500.

SP tuning were good back when i had a 306 diesel

tbh there figures look nice and conservative, looks quite good, ask to see if they have a previously rr'd fabia vrs map they have done and have a look at the map curve ;)

thats a lot of torque for a remap. works out to 302lb of torque which exceeds the clutch limit

Redline tuning is based in basildon and they have a rolling road.

or perhaps check out the sponsors as they are very trustworthy and have intimate knowledge of the workings of vRS'

You could try angel tuning...i'm sure they have a rolling road setup in one of their basildon branches. I think it is near cranes farm road.

thats not too bad! mines ran 173bhp and 374lb-ft of torque with a remap :o

clutch didnt last long :o

374lb/ft from a remap?!

To the OP: Remember that a remap is a service, not a product. Price doesn't come in to it.

Price doesn't come into it? :o

Pretty sure it does for people without infinite moneys. :giggle:

Yea we all want good service thats why i asked if anyone had used them before, if they did a good tune.

As to Redline tuning, i will have a search for them too.

Thanks

I thnk I better find me 170 quid! and maybe a credit card for when my clutch goes but thats really cheap!!!

there seems to be new people popping up all over the place, theres another 1 local to me called hp tuning uk just started up, not saying anything bad against any of them at all, but ill be sticking to a tried, tested,& reputable tuner myself tho as ive seen what a bad tune can do[work mates subaru] .... n that was not good believe me emoticon-0145-shake.gif ....

Sensible advice. IMHO I would use a reputable tuner instead of an unknown.

A bad map can cause a lot of damage. £170 instead of £400 for a remap? looks value for money but then 3 months later the £230 saving + another £1000 to sort your engine damage out is not so good value.

I personally if I was in your shoes speak to Ben from Shark or another site sponsor. Shark gets loads of good reviews of the work he has done and he does seem to understand the vRS more so than the average joe. I have asked him numerous questions and he always has an answer and good logic to it.

Price can be a factor for any remap whereever, but think of it this way, would you rather go for the cheapest best deal option at the expense of your car's drivebility and reliability which could be damaged by a bad map? a new turbo and clutch could cost you £1k.

Yea i know, i know, i know....cheapest isnt best just wanted to know if anyone had heard or used these people.

If they had been used and were good then ok, if not then its best to bring it to peoples attention before someone uses them because of their cheapness.

:D

Doesn't p-torque do them for about £240? He gets good reviews on here. I only paid £300 for a custom job at Awesome.

If you are after opinions on SP tuning then search this forum, there's a few I saw and also if you search on google.

I got a custom map from richard washbrook his company is oscarli and has distributors around the uk! He is a remapping god

AMD do Revo don't they?

AMD do Revo don't they?

yes they are a REVO supplier

it says that the offer ends 31/05/10 so your abit late :linux:

If you near AMD i can recommend them...........I did a cash deal for a remap and a milltek cat back exhaust, worked out a decent price.

barryboys haha, name says it all

Not sure why price comes into it, basically it is only a program and once you got a copy it cost nothing to use again and again, on the other forum i go on, a company Angel Tuning are offering £100+vat a car providing more then 15 cars booked in on the day, they program alsorts of merc and others and all the feedback seems very favourable, why dont the vrs/tdi boys sort a date out with them? programming is only worthwhile if you got a turbo!Make it in Sheffield so we are in the middle of uk and easy for everyone to get to

Yes I agree it shouldn't be done "on the cheap" by some bodger in a shed and there indeed there are some real modified **** ups out there but to say "price doesn't come into it" is utter nonsense. You can modify you car well and safely by a reputable tuning company using quality parts without spending ridicules money (depending on what you have done).

But yeh money/price does come into into it - it doesn't grow on trees ya know!
