Yeti Home garage fit ?

Featured Replies

Just at point where I order my new Yeti Elegance 2.0 170bhp 4 x 4 from James Rothwell.

And I could not help to wonder if the Yeti will it fit in the modern sized home garage ?

I am in the position of not wanting or needing to use the car every day , some times not even for a week or so.

So the idea of parking in a garage appears to be a good idea.

I did wonder how many Yeti owners park in home garages, ? and do the mirrors and rear radio aerial cause a problem..?

Just tried a Yeti(170 4x4) this morning to see if it would fit in my garage. As above you will need the stubby aerial if you have the up and over style garage door.

Just need to clear out some junk to get the Yeti to the front of the garage because of the angle of the door coming down.

But it should fit I have a "modern size home garage"

I do not know what a standard home garage's dimensions are, so cannot comment. My garage/shop is 1000 sq.ft. with a 9 foot high and 8 foot wide opening door, so no problems there.

Only problem I have is dust from woodworking getting on the parked SM. A mellow pine colour would have been better than white.

What's a garage?

Think of it as a modern version of a Yeti Igloo. Stops it from getting cold and wet at night.

I borrowed a Yeti to try in my normal sized garage because I thought it might be a tight fit. The good news - it went in OK. The bad news - the garage door wouldn't shut. The back of the car was too square for the up-and-over door to close. I have since installed a roller door and will get a shory aerial fitted when my Yeti arrives.

You could always just have reversed in!!! No need to have changed the door then!!

The Yeti fit's okay in our garage, which I guess is standard new build (2008), as it's pretty much the same foot print as a Golf.

I have replaced the aerial with a Honda rubber OEM item bought from a dealer. The other thing is to remember to park far enough forward, I've already taken a gouge out of the top of the rear hatch by closing the garage door onto it (annoyed with myself doesn't even get close). We've never had a car this tall and square before, I didn't even consider the arch of the door closing, it's generally not a problem with my MX5!

To say that I was (am? :( ) in the dog house would be an understatement. I managed to ding the door of her Micra when it was new as well.

This is my third MX5 (so Mazda must be doing something right  ). I've always been tempted to get an Elise, but if I'm honest with myself couldn't live with one every day. This time around I seriously considered the 370Z and a Boxster, but running a 3.7 V6 with current fuel prices put me off the Nissan and to spec the Porsche up to the Mazda's spec made it £20k more expensive than the MX5!

The Yeti/MX5 perfectly complement each other (and together cost about the same as a 370Z!)

Sorry for going off thread.
