Skoda delivery date - now end October

Featured Replies

My Yeti order deposit from an online broker has just been refunded today becuase Skoda have apprently said that they can't guarantee delivery before end of October.

I put my order in at the beginning of May!! It's hard to believe as the car can't be this popular, they must be having factory issues. Annoying, I'm thinking maybe Ford Kuga now.

Remember the Yeti will being ordered from all over Europe, as my dear old mum use to say always go to the shop with the biggest queue and good things are worth waiting for. If you read the all the positive reviews with regards to the Yeti I'm sure demand is the problem, That said it would be nice to see another one the road as at the moment people do look at the car as if it had come from another planet !!!

My order was quite standard. I ordered the 140bhp SE model with silver roof bars. I didn't choose the sunroof which I heard was delaying some orders.

Not sure what to do now as I need a car for September for when I start my new job, and I thought 5 months lead time would be plenty, not sure I want to pay premium price for one from a dealer which may come quicker. Ho hum, c'est la vie

Hi!

And welcome!

That is still not the worst I've heard - not that it probably makes you feel any better.

I ordered my SM in the beginning of february (In Finland, if it makes any difference), and the delivery date is June 29th, so almost 5 months of wait for me also. The car is 1.2 TSI DSG, no extras.

Just out of curiosity I recently asked my dealer when delivery would be if I was to place an order now, and the answer was sometime next year. Talk about a popular car!

order 1st april...delivery in august..bog standard 1.2 s :(

I ordered 8th of April and still don't have a build date. But if delivery is in August I'll just tell them to keep the car to the 1st of September to get a 60 plate. You'll thank yourself come selling time as it will of course be worth more and be deemed as a "later" car, built after all the niggles have been sorted at the factory.

These are obviously running up against the July holiday period - which I understand to be three weeks?? :S

My 1.2 SE DSG + options was ordered in UK 3rd February and is expected by dealer on 15th June. Holding my breath...

My Online Broker has gone very quiet as well, and suspect this will end up being what happens to me as well. Talk about Skoda shooting themselves in the foot.

Great car, very popular, shut factory for 3 weeks, late deliveries, cancelled orders, not so popular now.

when does the factory shut....im sure its august, so they can get ready for all the new cars'....im hoping this is true, cos mines due to be built 1st week july :p

It all bodes well for our residual values. I waited three months for mine which was a first for me having always bought cars from stock. Worth the wait though. Never been for so many drives just for the sake of it.

Well just got my £500 refunded as well with a curt letter, the annoying thing is if they had just called or emailed I can wait until November, seems like they are trying to wash there hands of the situation.

How long before dealers stop taking orders because of the ridiculously long waits.

Hi WarrenB,

Undersdtand your frustration - this is the longest wait I have had for a car and it must be said that many deallers are poor at keeping you informed.

Yours was perhaps one of the worst and in my view if this is the way they work on a day by day basis then they are not likely to survive log.

However, that said, dealers are just not going to stop taking orders - there are still lots of folks out there who want a new Yeti. (thus the long UK wait list)

Perhaps the long wait will force folk into other cars like the new Mini Countryman, IX35, Nissan etc.....there are a few options about now if people understandably dont want the long wait for a beast.

:|

Agreed - in my case I looked at soooooo many cars and would have waited for the new Kia Sportage (similar to the iX35) due this summer if I had felt it was the right car BUT the Yeti ticked more boxes than them all for us.

But they're not quite the same and I for one don't like the look of the Countryman. The prices are likely to be a fair mark up on the Yeti equivalent as well.

This must be quite unchartered territory for Skoda CZ and Skoda UK - a waiting list! They have taken steps to increase production with the shifting of models between production lines but this clearly will take a time to have an effect. By the sound of it though, Skoda UK and the dealers need to have a bit more consideration for their customers, by keeping them properly informed.

If I were a dealer principal, I would be ensuring that a customer received an email once a week even if there was no new information. People would be much more patient and understanding if they felt that they were being kept informed. Lets face it, the Yeti must be making manufacturer, importer and seller a fair bit of cash at a time when the rest of the economy is in such a sad state

If Ferrari can exist on average two year waiting lists so can Skoda. Stopping to take orders they never will. Your broker must have had a specific delivery clause which they can't meet. And why did they take deposit anyway?! Thus nothing to do with Skoda. With Drivethedeal your Skoda dealer takes the deposit and that is it. They will never send you your deposit back unless you DON'T want to wait until November.

I agree with you to an extent but if people are being so well peed off as they clearly are, they will buy another car brand even if they are not the same, rather than face a possible 5-6 months waiting time. I still find this whole sunroof thing bewlidering as it only seems to be affecting this sunroof, but surely this sunroof model must be on other cars and to my knowledge there is no other manufacturer suffering production delays because of sunroofs, and if the Yeti is in such demand where are they all on the roads because I hardly ever see one, yet they must be coming out of the factory at a fair rate even with the delays ?

Very strange this one.

There must be a similar thread to this on the Superb Estate thread?! It uses the exact same sunroof. If this site had a decent search function it would have been easy to check but since you can't really do advanced searches in specific folders it is pretty difficult. (or am I just blind to the advanced search option?)

there is...and it says there is no longer any mention of any sunroof in the new Superb brochure

Ordered mine 24 April from dealer who matched internet price & gave skoda finance at 2.5% . Dealer rang on Thursday 17 June to say car was at exit port and would ring in 10-14 days with delivery date.

Just be aware that even though the finance rate looks low, it is just 'typical', the fees are £225 and if you borrow a smaller amount it skews the rate up as i found out to my cost when i just borrowed £3k. And once you have signed there is no cooling off period.

yet again, someone who has ordered 23 days after us...and where told august!!!..must admit me and the missus have been considering cancelling, as we seem to be getting messed about by both the dealer and suk :wonder:

You and me both lee67, but mine is now allegedly on the docks in UK so I'm just gritting my teeth harder, as I've been doing since February 3rd. Trouble is, I really do want one!

Far from being messed about, I've been totally ignored by my dealer - who seduced me away from an online broker with tales of the "benefit" of having a local dealer involved (though he did match the online price eventually). Perhaps he plans to ignore me more politely? Mike
