Why can't my dealer source Yeti parts

Featured Replies

Picked up my Yeti on 12th March and was told that the pdi guy had noticed the glove box was faulty, nice spot I thought glad to see they were on the ball. Salesman told me part had been ordered and they would phone when it arrived. My wife called in on 22nd only to find out it hadn't been ordered, so it was ordered then.after a few calls told it would arrive on 8th May which it didn't but no call from dealer to keep me informed. I was then told it would be 1st June so I phoned Skoda uk who were totally disinterested and told me to wait if dealer were dealing with it. Today I phoned my dealer again to see what was happening, only to be told it hadn't arrived,as if I hadn't already guessed and couldn't give a date it was expected. After telling me they couldn't give dates and telling I'd already had dates he phoned me back with a new date of 21st June which I now take with a pinch of salt.

What I'd like to know is why in this age of e communications the dealer or skoda UK can't source a part. Thank God I'm not waiting for a part to get my car back on the road.I'm now getting totally pi•••d off with my dealer and Skoda UK and these magazines who give Skoda these customer satisfaction awards clearly haven't spoken to anyone who has been waiting 3 months for a part and a courtesy call from the dealer.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you have problems, this one is down to your dealer. My dealer parts person is Steve who if I want anything is on the computer like a ferret! It seems that dealers can access the stock computer at the main warehouse, not sure if it's Milton Keynes. All in stock deliveries are next day, so it may be that your requirements are not available, but no one cares. A real shame. It was for this reason I kicked Peugeot into touch when I had my first Skoda. SUK really need to be made aware of the problems they have - one wonders if the HQ know what is going on, after all it is they that are producing such damn good cars, to be let down by the dealerships and SUK.

Chris.

The dealer sources parts from Skoda UK. It would seem to me that Skoda UK do not keep in stock the correct glovebox for your car and cannot supply an ETA to the dealer for the back ordered part. There's not really much that the dealer can do and Skoda UK can't really source one from another countries importers parts stock, as it is a part unique to a right hand drive market.

It's annoying, but it isn't a critical part necessary for the car to function.

If the dealer can't source the part then demand that they take a glovebox from one of the cars that they have in stock. They will soon chase that order up when their demo or showroom car has a glovebox missing!

Been down that route, I took the dealers last Yeti when I took delivery.

I know it's not a critical part but 3months+ wait is a joke. The factory is still producing rhd models for the UK & Ireland so they obviously have stock to keep the production line going surely someone can use a fax, email or telephone to source the part it's only the Czech Republic, not the far side of the moon, the dealer was sharp enough to take my money off me it's time for him to do something for me now. A telephone call would be nice even to tell me it hasn't arrived yet again. Are you reading this Slacks?

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Most factories now have a demand led parts system, where literally the parts arrive and are used with hours, not days. As an example, on the Freelander production line at Speke (as I still know it) parts arrive in the morning for a car being produced in the afternoon!

We were looking at doing a job for united tilities water in front of a fcatory that made dashboards for vaxhall. They operated on a just in policy and we had to go across the entrance to the factory.

1st late delivery £25k fine.

2nd late delivery £100k fine

3rd late delivery - contarct termination.

UU got a little nervous and I moved to a different are, don't know if we ever did the job.

Nice idea, only one problem. The dealer cars are likely on a stocking finance plan with the manufacturer and thus do not belong to them. I think that the dealer would rather have an irate customer than risk a disciplinary/fine from Skoda UK, even though it is Skoda UKs inability to supply the part which is one cause of the problem, the other been Skodas fitment of a faulty part.

I've seen it done in dealerships that I have worked in and at least one that I have bought a car from. Besides, manufacturers would sack half of their dealers if they knew of some of the things that they get up to:o
