I love my vRS :)

Featured Replies

My vRS LE in for servicing today, so have a Superb as a courtesy car from the dealer (which was very nice of them), and boy oh boy do I miss my vRS after even a few hours! Ok, so the Superb (2010 plate demonstrator) is the base diesel model so it lacks a few bells and whistles to play with in the cabin (eg climate control - it even lacks the bolero), but in terms of driving it won't be markedly different from a higher spec model I'm guessing, and my impressions of it are that the steering feels too light, the lack of gut power and accerleration at lower speeds takes some getting used too (as does the clutch, I've stalled it more times in one morning than I did when I was a learner I think!), and the fact that it doesn't like missing gears when shifting up (ie from 2nd straight to 4th that I would normally do on the vRS) comes as a shock, as does the fact that for a 6 speed it really doesn't like going over 4th until you are nearly doing 60. Interestingly I also found the instrumentation less clear when it came to spotting 30mph and sticking to it on the dial.

Funny thing is I was half thinking of a Suberb at the time I got the vRS simply because the rear cabin space is unbelievably massive so is great from a family point of view. Add to that the lack of road noise that makes it in many ways an ideal M-way cruiser. But it just lacks... fun! So yes, I admit it - I just love my Octy vRS, road noise and all

You’re lucky to get a Superb! I normally get given a basic Fabia. The point being you just remember why you got a Vrs when you get back in it......

Oh yes, like I said it was a nice touch from the dealer to offer the Superb and I'm definately not complaining about it (in fact a Fabia was also available), but it's good to try out a car that on paper at least is the next level up from your own and realise that, actually, your own is just loads better :)

i got a CR tdi vRS when my car got serviced. couldnt wait to get mine back.

tell you what though, this lqst week i hav been away with work, and ive been using an old work '90 lqandrover defender. no power steering, wooly brakes, body roll and eveything.

got back in the vRS today, and alomost stuck myself through the windscreen when i touched the brakes. if you ever get bored of your car(which i was getting) i advise you to drive something shocking, and you will come crawling back. ive been out for a 'spirited drive' earlier and am back in love

The place I took my car too last time is a Suzuki dealer as well as Skoda, so I got lumped with a Swift as a courtesy car.

I couldn't believe how bad they are! Maybe it was just a bad one, because they had pretty good reviews when they came out - but the one I drove had less than 100 miles on the clock, and getting it into first gear was like trying to fit an angry tiger through a letterbox.

Mrs Walrus has a 2.0litre petrol Nissan Qashqai, and I have to say that although it is great for transporting Walrus Jr around, and she loves the driving position, whenever I spend a few days driving it I am always astonished at how much tighter and more accurate my vRS feels.
