Convince me

It's still a good price, but for detachable tow bars (with ECU upgrade) it seems to be nearer £500 to £650. Not sure why, but chatting to a dealer yesterday they said the labour required is considerable, so guess that Skoda haven't made it particularly easy - with or without "tow bar prep"!

Back on track chaps. Interesting though the towing diversion has been, it doesn't address the fundamental issue; Yeti or what?

I need to do something about this soon and I'm still as undecided as ever.

To re-hash the problem it is this.

1) Like conventional big auto 4x4s

2) Don't like their drinking habits

3) Need a fair amount of space

4) Need off-road capability beyond a Honda CRV

Sounds like you need the Yeti 2.0L 4x4

Have posted on this subject before ,see tow bar postings, I know my local dealers use independent tow bar specialists for fitting.

Certainly the 140 HP diesel DSG is currently at the top of the list, but would love to see an owners impressions before committing.

Hoping somebody is going to post soon.

Cant you get extended test loan from a local dealer,? I am thinking the only reason you are holding back is badge snobbery as the Yeti seems to tick all the boxes.

Wouldn't lots of us, but.............

2) Don't like their drinking habits

Well you can certainly say that the 140 or 170 diesel 4x4's are thirsty, from what owners are posting on here.

3) Need a fair amount of space

I suppose it depends on what you need to carry, but from measurements that we made on the Welsh Adventure the Yeti boot is bigger than the Freelander 1, and surprising spacious, having seen what Lady P manage to fit in hers. And you always have the option of taking the seats out.

4) Need off-road capability beyond a Honda CRV

The Yeti wil trounce the CRV off-road!! Better ground clearance, better traction control through the Haldex system, and a lot more protection underneath. I know the route we took on the Welsh Adventure wasn't very "adventurous", but having seen how well they cope with some surprisingly rough bits, it confirmed my choice of the Yeti to replace our Freelander.

Hey Rob, i'm still waiting for the 1.4TSI for a test drive and then it will be a matter of seconds which one will be in my garage as well. Colour, options and trim all selected just might be the first 1.4TSI in Cyprus or go along with the cheerful 1.2TSI.

I hope we kinda convince you here and if you make the right choice i'm hoping it will be the one to make you happy about it!

Hi,

the 140 DSG only went into production a month ago so there very thin on the ground but going by my 140 manual with the off-road button fitted (oh and the correct tyres), last winter demonstrated the Yeti is a very capable vehicle.

If your going off the metalled road I would also recommend the rough-road pack and hill hold as well as the off-road function itself.

Regards,

TP
