Anyone know how to remove a dealer sticker from the rear window, will it just peal off?

Sorry, didn't get one with mine.....

Anyone know how to remove a dealer sticker from the rear window, will it just peal off?

Depends how sticky it is really :boing: :D

Mines peeled off with very little effort but I know some stickers get pretty badly stuck down :stuck: depending on which dealer it is and whether they have asked for more permenant stickers.

I think it would be pretty nasty of a dealer :cussing: to use permanent stickers though!!

Try it and see

If it looks like its going to be a pain give it a gentle warm up with a hair dryer.

Mine came off very easily - then cleaned off the adhesive with some Meths.

yeah they just come off quite easily might have to clean off some glue with a glass cleaner or something along those lines.

Yep, warm it up with a hair dryer... it'll be harder to remove if it's cold.

WD40 works surprisingly well at removing glue - I didn't need to resort to that when I removed my sticker. Just work from one corner and peel it off slowly. Good luck!

That reminds me - I must get rid of mine at some point.

When I ordered mine I made a point of telling the dealer not to do the bodywork sticker they do in addition to the window one.

They listened and made a note of it. Did the same for my dad too.

Be careful not to damage the heating element in the rear window!!! :)

Unless things have moved on since I removed the dealer sticker from my 1988 Polo!!!

Anyone else tried to remove the "It's a Skoda, honest" sticker? That was stuck on with some very tough glue!

Chris

Removal of the very large 4X4 turbo adhesive sticker in the rear window gets specific mention in the Owner's Manual, ie it can only be removed by a Skoda dealer using a special technology otherwise the rear window heater might be damaged. I only came across that warning after I had successfully removed the sticker without the benefit of special technology... :o

PS: If the dealer has stuck their sticker over the heating elements, draw their attention to the following in the Owner's Manual:

Do not affix any stickers from the inside over the heating circuit to avoid damaging the heating circuit of the rear window heater.

Quite right! I told the dealer to refrain from applying any advertising material. I had to accept their name at the bottom of my number plates (a legal requirement I believe) and the tax disk holder, which has now been relaced by a plain one. It really hacks me off when they think they can deface my vehicle for their free advertising, just who do they think they are?

Very slightly off topic, but wouldnt a window tint also effect the rear window heater?

mine was over the heating elements, still took it off, but I did notice that it had burn lines across it. At the moment I have the briskoda.net sticker across the rear window, hope it doesn't cause any porblems! :o

Is it within my legal right to remove a dealer sticker from the back window of my car even though technically it is not mine ie. Paying it off via Finance Deal? Could this possibly be a stupid question?...

Pretty stupid yes. Does not belong to dealer in any shape of fashion. Belongs to the fiance company ie Skoda Finance or who ever supplied the credit. Even then it does not really belong to the company, they only have an interest in it.

I doubt they would care... Nothing would come of it

I removed my sticker with a brick and now my dealer says I need a new windscreen.

Are they trying it on?

Apparently not. Had my Scooby tinted and never had any problems running the heated rear window with the film over it.... :) I think the problem lies in the removal of the film/stickers which could damage the element....
