vRS alloys advice needed please

Featured Replies

My current vRS alloys(oem type) have a bit of corrosion around the insides which im told is a common problem with these? i will be getting winter tyres in october so would like a spare set of alloys to mount them on to make changeovers easier.

Is it worth me buying brand new skoda alloys @ £152each from skoda? or will they eventually corrode after 2-3 years?

is it better to buy 16" alloys instead? i'd prefer to avoid this route as i like the oem look but £150 odd smacker is a lot of money per wheel unless i goto breakers but have seen a few and they all seem to be either curbed or corroded or both

Why not get some cheap corroded ones from the breakers, get them sandblasted and powder coated and then theyre good for a long time?

not sure if this would be worth it?

wheels would be £50-£60 from a breakers then £80 a wheel for a refurb. I didn't realise it costs so much for a refurb and coating.

are branded alloys likely to last longer than the skoda oem ones?

all depends how u look after them......,

if you wash them weekly, wax them, and touch up any chips etc then any wheel will last, if you do nothing they will just corrode

£80 a wheel to refurb? wot with gold leaf.. :wonder:

iv just had mine done by these... wheel refurbers

in black chrome...cost £180 cash...look superb

You'd be better off getting 15 inch wheels and going for narrower tyres for winter use.

I have 185 60 15 Continental wintercontacts on a set of Audi alloys for winter use on my VRS - they are excellent!

I've just sold a set of SEAT 15" wheels, they could of been yours for £50!

I'll be putting my standard vRS wheels back on in October, don't want any Salt on my polished lip :'(
