door trim lifting off

Featured Replies

anyone else have a problem with the drivers door trim lifting off where your elbow rests on the flattish bit beside the drivers window?

mine has started to do this and i'd like to think my elbows aren't that fat ;)

Try holding the steering wheel properly...if your elbow is on the trim how are you going to steer properly in an emergency?

A very useful reply that!! ....NOT!! :wonder:

Why post this when he asked if anyone else had this problem?

Many people drive like this..Trim shouldnt drop off

It's a very common issue - there was a thread about it just a week or so ago. Try searching and you'll turn up loads of stuff about it. General opinion seems to be that it will be covered under warranty at most dealers. If you're not under warranty, I believe a new door card is in the region of £200 (or watch ebay for cheap 2nd hand one) and they're very easy to fit yourself.

Nice response mate - very helpful.

I drive with my elbow resting on the door trim because its actually designed to be used that way to enhance comfort and because I'm a really big *******! emoticon-0173-middlefinger.gif

I always drive with both hands on the wheel no matter where my elbows are resting and I have full control over my vehicle.

This appears to be a common issue for some reason and IMHO is a manufacturing fault. Go large on Skoda UK and don't back down.

Yeah, mine is like that too.... hasn't split yet, but has separated from the door card.

Of course mine was caused by the previous owner, since I never rest my albow on the door card to ensure I maintain full vehicle control at all times

Ditto my old octy, I modified my driving style so that my elbow was resting on the lower part of the door handle (where the window switches are) to stop it getting worse.

Mine has got a dent in the window cill from my elbow, I'm a bit too tall to rest my elbow on the door trim.

So.......did you have the door card sorted out under warranty then?

Just interested as I took a bit of flack on this one!! :'(

I had this problem with my 57 reg octy vRS , it went like a bubble in the plastic right where my elbow rested lol

Went back to the dealership with it & got a new door card under the warranty
