Duffed warranty ?

Featured Replies

My girls cousin has his own garage and when i was talking to him last night he said that if you get your car chipped it wont effect your manufacturers warranty. He said that it was lowering etc that invalidated the warranty. Is this true?Does anyone know the regulations on this.

Any modfications unless dealer approved parts will effect your warranty.

Its is a gamble you take.

Thanks for your prompt reply ross.Im sure he said that the place that chips your car can cover your warranty or something along those lines. He was very definate. He was going to get his audi tt chipped and he wouldnt have cosidered it if it would have invalidated his warranty.Do you know anything on this? Thanks

Blair

If a dealer gets a car remapped then the dealer takes on the responability for it.

The dealer may well process a claim for that car under Skoda warranty if they like, fine unless they get caught then the claim will get voided, but then thats the dealers problem not yours.

But this is all in the unlikely event that it has a major engine failure or something. If you have your car remapped then the likely hood of the refusing to fix a leaking shock absorber is minimal.

The real sticky situation is a number of remapped cars that are now in the dealer network that are unkown. How does that effect your insurance? Warranty? all very very grey areas.

Thanks again ross.Still very very confused.I want to chip my Fab but dont want to lose my warranty.mmmmmmmm.Looks like if i want it done just have to risk it i suppose. Is there a big difference in chipped fabias in terms of top end.I assume they are mental at accelleration

Skoda UK do not accept any modifications....that they know of. Bottom line for anything like this is that if you are in any way concerned about your warranty then dont mod the car until the warranty expires.

There are plenty other manufacturers who follow the same line , so its not just Skoda.

Your car, your choice I,m afraid.

that has happened to someone on here.

Until the service manager changes, or the dealer goes out of business ;) IMHO, if you can't afford to fix any problems with the car, then don't risk it by modifying the car. :)

I believe Superchips offer a warranty on parts which might be affected by the chip...seem to recall some details on their website.
