Reputable company for a remap?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get my VRS remapped soon, but was just looking for some general advice on the subject as I can't really find a clear answer to some questions.

Is the 'stage 2' remap only available on the Octavia mk2? if it isn't i'd definitely be interested in getting a cat-back exhaust system first, just to increase the gains I would get. But what companys do people recommend for a remap? Somewhere that is relatively cheap but still have a reputation and experience and are trusted.

Thanks for any suggestions :)

Me and a few others are running maps off ben@sharkperformance Who is also a site sponsor. Give ben a call or a pm I'm sure he will be glad to help, he is a top bloke, his maps are also very good too.

Check the Site Sponsors section for a reputable company near you.

Stage 2 remaps are for if you've done loads of other stuff to the car (exhaust, intake modifications etc) and you want to get the best out of it. They're available on the Mk1 VRS as well as the Mk2 VRS.

Stage 1 is just a generic remap and will typically give you X amount of extra horsepower and X amount of extra torque.

If you type remap into the search you will get about a million threads, or look at peoples signatures, as the others have said there are a few site sponsors who do remaps and have very good reputations. And going for a remapper near where you live makes the world of difference if something goes wrong or you need it tweaking.

So with an exhaust system and a new air filter the car would be able to have a stage 2 remap, to something like 225 bhp?

Good advice about looking for a local company - hadnt thought of aftercare if things go wrong.

more bhp have got a offer on at the min £99 send your ecu to him not a bad map had one on mine , but i prefer the r-tech one thats on it now

So am I right in thinking getting an exhaust or other breathing mods is a little pointless if you then get a generic map, instead of a custom one? or will it still improve the cars bhp getting a generic map on a car with breathing mods.

For our stage 2 map we suggest a full exhaust including downpipe and sports cat, and a cold air intake. We have seen results up to 251hp but quote 225hp.

Sounds interesting. Does that mean that just an exhaust system (probably from the cat-back?) and an aftermarket air intake on an otherwise standard engine would not be able to have a stage 2 remap? Or that it just wouldn't be as effective.

you need the down pipe with sports cat as thats were nost of the retriction is i think.

Yep, stage 2 needs a sports cat & fmic.

The main restriction is the cat.

Depending on who you talk to and what you want you might be better off with a good panel filter & definned box rather than a CAI. Though a CAI sounds nicer
