Glove box light not working

Featured Replies

Bulb changed, tried it with lights on, ignition on, still not working - is there a switch on the door as I couldn;t see one? :wonder:

Hello there...........Bulbholder incorporates switch. Switch is flimsy first of all and is controlled by pressure from side of glove box.First move would be to remove holder/switch and check!

Ah there's a switch built into the bulb holder, thanks for that, will check tomorrow

Yeah the switch/light unit is flimsy as hell!

I fixed mine with a carefully placed zip tie.

Do the side lights or ignition need to be on for the glove box light to work? I meant to check earlier, but forgot :dull:

Just lights on, but I can't work out how the return spring locates on the spindle to make the plastic arm swing back :wonder:

I would suggest you dont even try a repair........waste of time.I replaced one of these recently after a number of "trial" repairs.

Ok, so did you get a new unit or second hand?

Is there a trick to removing the unit. I can get it part way out from the top and remove the small festoon bulb, but the unit has the spring mechanism at the bottom and the black connector at the top, which both seem to get in the way when trying to pull the unit out, so i cannot remove the connector?

Yes ....bit of a problem to remove switch/holder, you have to get the right "angle"........it will come out. I got new part....about £10

Good luck......Brendan

Thanks, will have another go tomorrow.
