How they going to know?

took it in for service today and removed it in case they dig around in the air box for any reason am i being paranoid as k&n state it wont invalidate

Just put the paper one in if you need to take it back to dealer - thats what i used to do.

exactly as i did today.

Thanks

Never had any issues mate  in fact i tell them so they dont chuck it away lol

Skoda could claim it doesn't filter the air as well and as such invalidate warranty on certain types of engine faults.

If course you'd then get into the K&N saying it won't arguments, and skoda vs K&N where you would end up paying the big legal bills.

Basically, if you have to worry about it affecting your warranty, I'd just change the paper ones every service or every 10k.

Why do you run a K&N panel filter in a TDI anyway? Do you honestly think it gives you any performance gain? I don't understand how it can.

Well since a diesel always runs with excessive air (lean in petrol terms) then the small possibility of adding a bit more air to the already excess air isn't going to do much.

When you start forcing in extra fuel and use forced induction, then the reason you see black smoke at is often to do with the fact that there is soot in the exhaust for the first lot and that the derv can't burn completely in the time it has when at higher engine revs.

Basically I agree with Nick ;)
