Just fitted my Forge DV to my VRS and all seemed to be fine, first 3 miles, spot on. Then it went all ropey, engine management light flashed and there is just no power. The light went off but i dont feel any turbo boost at all, there are no leaks form the pipework, what could it be? Please don't say its blown something??? :o

No boost....you sure you put it on the right way and that the connections are tight?

Also it may be that you unlucky and the piston has stuck open.....got VAG COM to read off the error code?

Got a camera? If so can you post a pic of the DV "as fitted".

Assuming you've got the correct DV, refiitted all the pipes correctly and tightened all the jubilee clips properly then it's a straight swap usually.

Mine certainly was..

I've just ordered a Vag com, i'll do a pic in a bit, does something need to be done to get out of limp mode (assuming that is the problem) i'm bricking it here... pic will be posted in half hour.

Depending on the fault limp home is normally corrected by turning off the ignition and restarting.

Sounds like a boost leak.

Nothing much else to add other than:

Did you remove the electrical connector off the N75? If so, have you plugged it back in?

Remove the top of the DV and examine the spring ensuring that the internals are greased.

I've replaced the Forge with original and still no boost at all, it just drives like a non turbo :( here is a pic of how it was installed, i thought restarting it should clear limp mode.. oh dear :(

Once it's in limp mode changing the DV is not going to clear the error code.

I think if you disconnect the battery for 20 minutes the error code should be cleared....I'm sure some one ill confirm either way.

If its an overboost fault and goes into limp home then turning the ignition off and on again will reset the system, but it wont clear the code.

I think something else has gone on here, you didnt use and sprays on the pipes when fitting the valve did you? i.e WD40.

Thats just a protective cover, the connections are secure in the part in front of that.

Oh well i'm booked in at dealers mon morning, hopefully all will be well then

Try disconnecting the MAF sensor and giving it a quick run.

Where is that exactly? I'll try anything lol

On the air pipe from the air filter to the turbo, next to the airbox, flat five pin connector.

The idea of disconnecting it is that when its open circuit the ECU see's a default value. If the sensor is faulty (very common) it may well be sending duff info to the ECU. It wont run perfectly but it will change the problem.

Will try that now and report back :)

Just runs even worse, and has a yellow warning light on dash. It just feels as though the turbo isn't boosting at all, although you can here a slight whine/whistle.

I think that's a good sign as if it ran ok that would mean it was using the last reading the MAF had i.e. your MAFs no knackered.....I think.

You really need to get a VAGCOM hooked up.

Oh dear sounds like you have fuked it :(. Engines are complex things, best not to tinker. Get the profressionals to do it.

Yeah i guess i'll have to wait to see what the dealer says on Monday. Typical my first day off to thrash about and i'm now driving a 1.0 diesel by the feel of it

I don't think you need a professional to fit 3 jubilee clips! I cant have fitted it wrong. Just dont have a clue what could have happened.

If the N75 valve was faulty, what sort of symtoms would it give? That is really the only thing which i think could have been touched, all pipes and leads are sound with no leaks. Why doesn't anything show on the dash if there is still a fault? If something was seriously wrong wouldn't the EM light still show?

Well its been in to the workshop and they have just said it is the MAF that is showing the fault, it can't have been anything to do with the DV then as i never went near the MAF at all. Thet are fitting a new one tomorrow so we'll see if it cures it :)

Just an update. They fitted the MAF and now coil or coils showing a fault, so they are being replaced on Thursday. At least i will have a load of new bits on it :) Also gave me a 54 plate Occy 2 courtesy car without me asking. My VRS will seem fast when i get it back :D

depends what Octy 2 they gave you,i had a 2.0TDi(140bhp)for the weekend and i have to admit i loved it,the torque the way it drove and felt was fantastic and the MPG compard to mine was amazing, didn't want to give it back i have to say.

can't wait for the new Octy vRS to come out as the one i had handled brilliantly for a standard car so the vRS will be even better and i think i'll be coming over to "the sooty side"!!!!!

Its an MPi, not sure if its a 1.6 or 1.4, handles like a boat but is still good enough to run about in, i was just happy they offered me one. :)
