First year service costs - VRS CR170

Featured Replies

My front disks were corroded from new and were replaced under warranty. Apparently this is a common issue with VAG vehicles - something to do with the metal composition. DO NOT pay for this work to be carried out as there is no way on Gods green earth that disks should need replacing at 7K unless you spend half your waking hours on a racetrack!

My father has a Fiat Panda Sporting 1.3 Multijet and the main dealer in Welling and I had to have a "conversation" after they replaced his pads and disks because they were "worn out" at 9K. Bear in mind my old man is over 80 and genuinly does not drive in a "spirited manner"........needless to say they refunded the money once I started talking trading Standards:-)

Unfortuantely have had to pay it old chap as brakes were shuddering, but not happy about doing so (understatement). Have not heard from Skoda Customer care so far. Will phone them this afternoon. Have got some good ammunition ready. Was your disc saga recently Wardy?

Big hip hip hooray for Skoda Customer Services: :thumbup::thumbup:

Skoda are paying for my discs & brake pads, and labour for fitting.

Another notch up the JD power customer satisfaction scale for them from me.

Good result!

Shame that you had to get into the debate in the first place though. Even better JD Power rating if the dealer had just sorted it out.

Nice result, although it does make you wonder how many people would not have bothered to question this, and ended up paying out

Agree Griffo, although from the off the dealer said they would check with Skoda Customer Services to see if there would be an exception to warranty. Not sure who is liable here TBH, as I bought the car from a dealer brand new 300 miles away, put into my local Skoda dealer, these parts are not classed as warranty items, but then they should not be failing so badly, on phone to Skoda customer care, they think it is to do with where my LE was "parked up" for a long while before shipping to me, my LE was apparently parked and not moved for a while at a docks location, thus sea air exposure higher than normal. Anyway it arrived on day one with rusty discs, but showed not ill effects in breaking. I will not accept discs like that on a new car again. The replacement ones are bright shiny silver, almost tempted to get rears done to match!

I got that letter this morning. Might take them up on it as I reckon that's 2 services for £299... My car is due it's first service in 6400 miles according to the car, so if I register for the deal in a couple of months when there's 1000 miles or so left before the service I'll get 2 variable services... Must be cheaper than if I pay for them separately...

Interesting that they reckon my local dealer is the one I bought the car from rather then the one nearest the address on file emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I got the same letter, I had the same idea about waiting until I was reday for the service then get 2 variables in (getting about 18K per service).

Looks like a result
