Superb V6 Estate

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Been a while since I've been on here and it's changed a fair bit! Used to kick around the forum when I had a first generation Octavia vRS, interestingly the only car I've managed to hang onto for the full warranty period, was a good motor!

Anyway the recent VAT free offers from Skoda have seen me drift back, I've already ordered a new vRS (petrol) for the wife to replace her 08 Focus TDCi - added most of the options list and still going to save £100 a month on the payment she is paying :-) That one's been ordered last weekend and is due to arrive in time for a 60 plate.

So that's the easy one, the tricky one is I'm considering the Superb Estate as a replacement for my Discovery (getting on for similar room in the boot and I don't need 7 seats), plus I am very drawn to the 3.6 V6 4x4 variant! I need to approach the dealer but am highly impatient so thought I'd check on here as I can't find anything on Skoda website to say this model/engine selection is included in the VAT free offer, do you know? If it isn't I'll challenge them to discount to that level or I'll not bother!

Secondly I know the engine is also in the Passatt CC but does anyone have this version of Superb, what are your thoughts?

Thirdly (and finally), I note it's only available in Elegance spec, no problem with the kit list there, however I hearrumours of a vRS version, kind of along the more sporty looking lines (ala S4 Avant I guess) - anyone care to confirm/deny as if it's true I think I may well wait for that one?

For anyone that's interested proposed spec is, again comments welcome:-

Superb Elegance 3.6 V6 4x4 Estate DSG.

+ Electric Boot

+ 3 spoke wheel with paddle shift

+ Park Assist

+ Floor Mats

+ MDI

+ Metallic Paint

+ Sunset Glass

+ Auto Dim Mirror

+ Heated rear Seats

+ Upgraded Sound System (10 Speakers)

+ IPOD Lead

Black

Onyx Leather

Cheers,

James.

Hi there!

I have a V6 estate and had it for about 6 weeks now, doing almost 3000 kms. The general feel of the car is very good (used to drive BMW 745, 2004) and it's smooth, but very steady in sharp cornering for a heavy estate. The DSG box does tend to keep revs to a minimum, so careful city driving is not that hard, but should you feel the need to drive hard, it's better to throw the lever into S-mode and then the beast inside comes to life! :p Full on acceleration is phenomenal with the 4wd grip. Mileage will hurt if you do though, so just shift into that gear when needed and then fall back to normal to avoid refilling every 20 miles ;) hehe Otherwise mileage is fine, like the figures quoted by Skoda.

My only gripe is the small 60-litre tank.. what silliness! Honestly with all the interior space, you'd think they could sacrifice a little to get some proper range when it comes to long distance cruising.

The elegance spec is great. I got the Cappuccino beige lack colour. Cream leather interior with black floor mats. It's like the one in the photos from the brochure. I really love it! Worth every penny. Order it!

Cheers for that

Off to dealer today to sort some bits and bobs for wifeys vRS so will see what he can come up with pricing wise, if he'll do (or match) no VAT then it'll be a no brainer. I have a company fuel card so the MPG doesn't really concern me though forever having to visit the petrol pump will I suspect become minorly annoying but livable.

My only other dilema at the moment id the Bluetooth functionlity, critical requirement for me but I use a Blackberry for work and believe that won't work with the Skoda Rsap system? Already had to go down the parrott route on wifey's vRS because they can only fit the bluetooth to the DSG version and she wants the manual (well done Skoda! ).

Black with Black V6 Estate?

Speak to Reddog he has got one just like the ones you've picked. There are some photos on here.

I'm actually quite pleased with my car....not so pleased it didn't come with HHC but still! It rides well, it's comfortable, there's plenty of space and it goes like **** off a shovel! It looks particularly nice in black with the sunset glass and seems to draw a lot of attention. A lot of people remark on the four pipes out the back. I had mine debadged as well!

I was going to buy an E Class Estate but it would have cost me, giving the difference in trade in price, an extra £24K+ Now, there's definitely not £24K difference between the two vehicles. In fact, I don't think there was any difference at all. Although, I might have got HHC on the Merc!! ;)

There's piccies on my post " New Superb Estate! " on page 3.

Nice pics and nice car, like the debadging idea too!

HHC is interesting and it's in the brochure, I haven't been told it's erroneus so if i order one and it turns up without I'll obviously want compensating :-) They are on with the figures now and it seems promising, dealer has 170 4x4 elegance in black with sunset glass so i have the idea on spec/looks, they tell me getting a V6 demo may be tough but I have told them I aint buying without a decent test run!

Anyone have any thoughts on what a 'good' level of discount from dealer is, we've just ordered a brand new vRS petrol hatch for the wife so I'm expecting them to play ball for a second car!?

When is the 3 ltr common rail diesel going to be available on the range

When is the 3 ltr common rail diesel going to be available on the range

On Tuesday, I drove a Superb hatch 3.6 4x4 DSG at the CCIA fleet event held at Millbrook. There was some traffic in front, however, the car felt rock solid and very stable, even when being hustled around some of the hairpin bends on the Alpine circuit.

Whilst at the same event, I also drove a Octy VRS petrol DSG hatchback. I think I'd have preferred that engine with a manual 'box. It was nice to drive an Octy after a 1.5 year absence.

If you want a sporty 3.6 Estate with 4WD and DSG get the Passat R36. Yes, it's on run-out but it's a better car. And the discounts make it basically the same price.

But Passat is ugly as hell.

..........and not as big! Even with discounts I bet they're still more expensive than my Estate!!

1. Size isn't everything.

2. You can get ludicrous discounts on an R36 at the moment and by the time you've loaded the two cars up to the same spec. there is very little difference in price and the VW will almost certainly hold it's value a little better.

3. The Passat runs the full-fat power version of the 3.6l V6, not the detuned version the Superb has.

Thats quite logical. :giggle:

And its still ugly. :'(

Agree with the R36 angle. Saw one at the weekend, and it was shifting. Much to the bemusement of other traffic, who probably thought it was a TDI repmobile, especially as looked pretty stealthy in black :)

Just find another like this. That's a deeply impressive cost per mile for something that's nearly £36k list:

It is when you want something big!

I did consider the Passat R36 before I chose the Superb 3.6

I specced both cars the same and asked for quotes on a 48 months lease purchase;

Passatt lease price with all accessories = £871 per month, purchase price after 4 years = £13,000, total cost = £54,808

Superb lease price with all accessories = £580 per month, purchase price after 4 years = £9,000, total cost = £36,849

Was the Passat £18k better than the Superb? Erm.....
