Initialising phone please wait and wait and wait...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone help?

The Multi Function Display on my new (59 reg) Superb SE 1.8 TSi DSG has locked up with the message 'Initialising Phone Please Wait'

Well I've waited (about two weeks now!) and I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this cleared it briefly but it soon reverted to the same message.

The dealer wants me to book it in with them for the whole day so they can run diagnostics and speak to tech support, but that would mean a whole day without the car! (not sure I could take the separation anxiety) and I don't have any spare days in the next month or so.

It definately isn't the phone. I had it switched off when I disconnect the battery.

Anyone had a similar problem or know of a solution?

Thanks

I had this same issue a while ago - the antenna on the roof was changed as this is where the bluetooth receiver is, so i was told. The dealer replaced it with the same antenna, although the current (10) model has the small shark fin. My dealer said they could not replace it with the newer style! Worth asking your dealer if you want it. good luck

Have you tried a reset of the Columbus unit itself

There is a set of three buttons to press that will do a cold restart of the unit

I have the Bolero stereo but the problem is with the Multi Function Display in the centre of the instruments, not the Bolero. I have finally found a dealer who will take a look tomorrow while I wait. I will let you know the outcome.

Thanks

Just to let you all know, after three days with the dealer to run diagnostics and consult with Skoda Technical they were unable to fix it! So I got them to take it to a differant dealer who unplugged the Bluetooth box (under the drivers seat) and plugged in a new one (which I could have done in less than ten minutes!) and now all is well.

There should be a reliability league table done not on the number of faults a car has but on the time dealers keep it off the road.

Still the car does live up to its name even if the dealers don't.

Thanks to all who suggested ideas.
