Engine Noise

Featured Replies

I have a 2002 Fabia 1.9 SDI Estate which has developed a rather irritating whine at 1500 rpm. It seems to come from the cam belt side and is not dependant on alternator load.

It started at around 8000 miles.

Any ideas anyone?

yep by a new one john.

Big K You should work for Skoda.

Oops I almost Forgot You Do!

(well a dealer anyway) :p

Graham:cheers:

Buy a new what - cambelt, alternator or car? I think the rain has caused big k's GSOH to blossom....

Now can we have a serious answer before the resident Moderator suffers from an attack of NSOH when he logs back on after taking a break to read the Beano Bumper Book of Jokes....eek.gif

hey it's friday and i'm in the office today (no screenwash bottles to fill up) i don't want to be serious today by the way it was buy a new car don't know about noise would have to hear it first.

Mine makes a bit of a whine at 2000rpm, but thankfully its just the turbo stirring into life ready to propel me up to 4500rpm. :)

If its a 2002 Fabia, I would let the dealer take a look. Everything you've described should be included under the warranty - and if its the Cambelt that should be seen too a.s.a.p.

GSOH it is. :D

Mine whines at times, usually at over 100 mph though.

I've particularly noticed when there is a blind crest with a 90 right straight after it.

I've usually found that slapping the passenger repeatedly causes the whining to cease or at least subside to a whimper :D

My serious answer would be to take it to your dealer, especially as it is still covered by warranty. Does it usually do it when cold and is it always there? Slipping fanbelt?

Sorry I can't be more help.

Jon
