Engine braking on 2000 Felicia Lxi

Featured Replies

hi all. may be a silly question, but the engine-braking on my 1.3MPi (50kw, 50,000 careful miles) is pretty crappy.. mostly i have to drop it to third gear before any real effect, and at that stage the revs have shot up to 3 and half or 4000 revs... i've recently set the tappets carefully and its always had regular oil-changes. - it pulls strongly in top-gear from 1000 revs, and in general is a nippy and economical little bugger, so i dont think its a compression problem -its just that when i take my foot of the throttle, not a great deal happens. - all the obvious is checked out, throttle sticking ect.. so.. any ideas anybody ?- thanks in advance- steve, west ireland

sounds about right to be honest mate. after all its only a lil 1300. also for economy if its MPI it will shut off the fuel ijectors on overrun and open the throttle itself a bit to reduce the braking effect at lower rpms.
