FL 09 Ocy Scout - massive flat spot in first gear

Featured Replies

 My 09 FL Octavia Scout has a massive flat spot only in first gear when setting off, is there a way of monitoring / recording some data with VCDS so I can show the garage whats happening ? it seems as though something is cutting in to limit the power. cheers - Stuart

Hi, yeah you can use the log button on measuring blocks screen, although you may want to have a look at the advanced measuring screen.

As for what to log, i'm not 100% sure but i'd do a few runs and capture against RPM:

- throttle position sensor

- brake pedal switch / sensor

- lambda

- MAF & air temp

- engine temp

- pretty much all of the fuel measures

- injection timing

etc. etc.

Then i'd just plot the interesting ones in excel. If you're only doing 1 or 2 at a time there's always the graphing function in vcds for more immediate results.

Might also be worth knowing some Details like Engine/Transmission Type before guessing blind. ;) In case you provide an Auto-Scan we might even be able to check if there are Software Updates available for your Control Modules.

 Hi Sabastian, thanks for that, am I correct in thinking that I can scan the car and send the info in an e-mail to yourself ? would a normal full scan cover it ? cheers - Stuart B)

You could send it by email. But you could just as easily paste the Autoscan here in the forum for all to see. Many brains will yield more possible solutions.
