Drivers side cubby hole

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ive just been to a scrappers and got the cubby hole door (the one that holds a can by the steering wheel. It fitted in ok but when driving it just falls open! Is there any reason for this? Should it be sprung? Or am I missing something here?

Cheers,

Dean

When I got my car, the flap would stay closed by itself, but when opening it would just swing down and empty its contents on the floor. Is yours like that?

It was because the plastic latch that holds it in the open position was snapped off. I made a new latch from a loop of elastic that works nicely and is easy to unhook to access the OBD socket. I can post some photos if you want?

Well the flap will only open untilit got to the clip as that is still on there, like a small plastic square. It just seems to open to that point when im driving, does yours have an elastic band or spring to stop it from opening?

From memory, it was just reliant on the shape/stiffness of the plastic to stay up. Maybe a blob of blu-tac'll fix it?

I would love to but I would also like to use it too! i've taken it off and it seems that the person I bought it off decided to make it look nice by putting some cleaner on it (like dashboard shine) this is slippy so I am going to clean this off and try it again.
