Rear brakes , wheels hot

Featured Replies

my rear brake o/s started to make noises two days ago, thinking the brakes needed replaced it dismantled them to find plenty of brake left. Cleaned and put it back together, yesterday it started again after 30 mins or so driving noisy and wheel getting hotter casing for brakes (no sure what it's call very hot)

Any tips or points greatly received

Thanks

Maybe the handbrake is on at that side and not releasing properly?

Either the handbrake needs adjusting as mentioned or your rear brake is binding on and needs replacing.

I had the same problem recently and had to get my rear calipers replaced. Check you have seated everything correctly.

yep binding brakes more than likely, get the handbrake checked and the pistons checked to make sure the have not seized

how much did you "dsimantle" them? As far as taking all the pads out, or just enough to see that there's plenty of pad left?

The rear brakes do so little, it's not unusual for the pads to seize in the caliper just because they don't move enough, pulling them out and cleaning everything up so they sit freely in the caliper will fix that.

Alternatively for the same reason, the piston could be seized in the caliper enough to be keeping constant pressure on the pads, so try winding the piston all the way back in to free it and try again.

Also possible as mentioned that the handbrake cable is dragging, partially pulling the brake on. It'll be easy to check if that's moving freely and allowing some slack when it's released.
