vRS Speedo Query...

Featured Replies

Hello there!

After reading an Auto Express review on the Fabia, one of the only "cons" of the car is the speedo. Apparantly it goes 70, 80, 90, 110. This seems strange. Anyone got a pic of there speedo I can look at?

I hope to take delivery of mine in January. If not will probably be March 1st for 05 reg :D

Such a long wait...

Tom

What Auto Express (& Autocar) ment was that the 10mph increments stated on the speedometer are missing for 100mph . Must be a pain for everyone trying to accurately judge their speeds on those private roads... ;)

Sorry to hear you may have a long wait for yours too (March)... :(

Yes, its a bit odd to be honest. Nothing that should put you off the car as a whole, but once the needle goes past 90, the whole scale of the dial changes, and the next increment is 110 then 130 then 150.

You asked for a picture, I haven't got one handy, but I know where you can get a video of a Fabia going 0-60 in a reported 6.7 seconds!!

Check here and download the video, you'll see the speedo - but it doesnt really effect everyday performance.

The truth is - when you reach those sorts of speeds, the tolerences in most speedos make them inaccurate, so it doesnt really cause a problem from that respect. Personally I would prefer 100 to be on there.

I can imagine that when you think your going just over 90, you could actually be going over 100.

The calibration is in fact quite accurate, despite the scale change when I was comparing it with the satnav.

Picture here :)

:rofl: Is that the picture of you comparing it to the sat nav? Its amazingly accurate!!!

Once over 80, it doesn't really matter....

AFAIK the new Octavia reads in KMH only over here
