TomTom and GSM III

Featured Replies

Any ideas how to get a TomTom to update its traffic information via the GSM III car kit? I seem to remember someone had suceeded in getting it working, but didn't give any details.

The GSM III kit has options for "modem" and "GPRS access point", which indicate it should be possible. But I can't get the TomTom to see the car kit, even if bluetooth is made visible. Interestingly the car can see the TomTom when searching for "headset".

NB - I can confirm the GSM III kit works fine with a Nokia X6 for voice calls, using the RSAP protocol.

Thanks!

Forgive me if I have read this wrong...

You want to connect your phone to the GSM III car kit and then connect your TomTom to the phone to get all the traffic updates etc.?

I'm afraid that won't work as generally handsets only allow one bluetooth connection at a time.

Or, if you mean connect your TomTom to the GSM III to the kit for the updates. That won't work either as for any connection, the module needs to access the phone's SIM.

The only way I can see for it to work is either buy another cheap handset and SIM, connect the TomTom to that for the updates or update your TomTom to the new Live versions that have a built-in GPRS connection.

If its GSMIII Which IIRC is the RSAP kit, then it should have access to the sim

It's the GSMIII RSAP kit.

Trying to connect the phone and tomtom to the GSMIII kit. NOT trying to connect the tom tom to the phone, and onwards to the kit.

The kit has GPRS and modem options, but I can't figure out the settings...

My 720t has a lead so you can access traffic for free!

Doesn't get the same info as quickly or as efficiently as the live service though...

That won't work on my 950Live. The TT doesn't support rSAP as there is no protocol to connect to rSAP.
