1st GTI INTERNATIONAL KNEBWORTH 1988 PRT1

Featured Replies

Missed Inters so thought I'd post some pics from the first show!

Two clubs where in attendance 'GTI Drivers Club'(1st original) and the recently formed 'Club GTI' .

If memory serves it was a typical wet summers day but the turn out was good!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Excuse the quality as Ive just taken a few quick snaps of original photos which are very average at best.

I'd forgotton the fixation we had with 'After market' bodykits such the like of 'Zender'- 'BBS' - 'Kamae - 'Rieger etc

There are a couple of other pics some from the NEC Motorshow and others of our own motors in the late 80's.

Plenty more to follow!

Incidently I also found some of the old brochures of the shows as well as the original brochures/books for Zender and Momo(very glossy) from 1989.

If time allows I can pdf them.

Cheers

Ruddy 'eck! I knew this was Inters 23rd year, but didn't expect anyone to have 1988 photos :D

I guess back in '88 the mk2 was the equivalent of seeing a mk5/mk6 at this year's Inters?

Yep! The Mk2 was relatively the new kid on the block and loads of the GTI fraternity were trying to make there's a little unique!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

You've got to admire the balls of the guy who turned up in a MG Montego

Awesome pics...

But surely this...

..... Was ugly even in the time of body kits?

Quite agree!

Completley ruined a classic motor and from memory the panel fit was dreadful.

The 'BIG' thing then was to have same colour perspex placed in between rear lights to give it that seamless look.

Hey ho! know accounting for taste lol
