Vax'd

Featured Replies

Decided to take advantage of the hot weather and finally got round to cleaning the carpets and seats. I dug the Vax out from under our stairs, found a full

bottle of carpet cleaner solution and got stuck in. Hoovered all the grit etc out first then did seat panels first then carpets. I thought, "wont take long" as it looked

fairly clean, how wrong I was lol, the first used water was muddy in colour, I ended up doing everything twice with the solution then used just water in the vax to

remove any residue of carpet cleaner. It dried without any tide marks, I then cleaned and polished the seat leather with Turtle leather cleaner.

Turned out looking better than I expectedemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Would have been good if you had before and after pics.

I've reeeeally got to do my interior, I've got black carpet going in at the weekend and I know it is gonna make the white bits look even worse.

OK thanks for that, I'll have a look at the site, yeah half way through I realised I should have done a before and after.

Think the little grey cells were cooking a bit lol, I think the temp hit 30C at one point here.

Good luck with the carpet, black sounds a verrry good solution.

I can't wait B)

I know what you mean about the temps, I had to wait until 8:30-ish before I could wash the car :dull:

Have you done the doorcards?

Hmmm welllll, no but plan to after shopping tomorrow. Because of the surface profile of the cards not making a good vacuum seal for the hose end

Im going to try painting a weak solution on, leave it for few mins, then sponge it off, thats the theory anyway.

I know what you mean Billy about the seats being good quality, they do look pretty good when cleaned. Are the R32 ones similar design??.

I think you 2 have forced me to do something I have put off for a while, I'm gonna go hire a rug doctor this weekend and do my seats while they are out of the car.

I'll take some before and after pictures though :giggle:

It should be LAW that every vRS gets it done. It only £40 for the weekend with 4l of the cleaner and you can do all the house too. I did the hole house and my car. gonna do it again some time but its finding the time, it brings them back to life and makes them look like new.

its the price you pay for having such and outragouse colour that I really like. Its a colour that deff shows how much car you put into it.

looks very nice mate.

Bertee lol,

trust me you wont regret it, I wish I had done it earlier (owned the car 4 years), this is the first major internal clean I have done apart

from hoovering and cleaning the plastic bits. I have tended to focus on keeping the engine bay, wheels and external surfaces clean.

Well I think I am starting to get a problem.

I was screwing around with westallc's bottle of APC a few weeks ago and sprayed it against the underside of the bonnet (missing clive :dull: ) and when I wiped it off it made me realise how much dirt was on it, so I spent the next 2 hours or so doing that, and the inner wings and bits and pieces.

I washed the car on monday and yesterday when I went to work (in the rain :dull: ) the only place to park was 10-15 feet from a tree.

When I got out of work 9 hours later it looked like the tree had made sweet music with my car, it was covered in sap and then a fine layer of little yellow leaves properly baked on in the full days sun we had after I got to work. It looked like a bloody mardi gras float on my way home, well embarassing.

So there I was last night again cleaning the car.

I am hopefully putting the black carpet in this weekend and my local Homebase rent out rug doctors for £10 per 24 hours and approx £10 for the shampoo so I think it's a good idea.

Bad luck mate with the tree,

similar thing happened to me many years ago, in the 70's I had bought a 1600GT XLR Capri (dark purple in colour), came out of work

on a hot day and couldnt believe how it looked. Took hours to get the shine back.

Under the bonnet / inner wings (painted surfaces) I wipe with a cloth with WD 40 sprayed on it. Find it lifts all the dirt off, then I just wipe

the surfaces dry.

Have you replaced the rear seats too? I bet they were pricey B) but it looks superb

yea mate,

I am only using the rear bench to match it all up, but wont be using them when sorted as they dont cover all the back, they are slightly smaller on the side edges.

thanks tho mate they are very nice to sit in.
