VRS Front console Rubber Mounts.

Featured Replies

Can someone please help quickly.

I am sure a little while back that there was a thread in here regarding the front rubber console mount design being changed by Skoda. Whether for a safety reason or for a design upgrade I was not sure but I need to know as my VRS is just out of Warranty (3 weeks) and the front rubbers are moving around far too freely.

The whole wheel and suspension strut is moving around when knocked. the top strut bolts are secure and torqued correctly as I have checked that.

If anyone knows about this problem, can shed any light on it, or advise on where the thread is then please let me know...

oopS, UPDATE HERE,,,

Appear I got that wrong a little, Console bushes are on the rear, I am looking at the front so the large rubber susspension mount is what seems to have a lot of play in it...

Please help if anyone can.

not sure what you mean by the "large rubber suspension mount"

the wishbone has 2 bushes...the one nearest the rear of the car is the " console " bush... which is approx 3" diametre... the front bush is much smaller.

Hi there,

I am not totally sure myself that is why i needed to ask the questions.

am looking through ELSAWin at present and will hopefully give me the answers to what part it is very soon. But I beleive the part you said (console bush - 3" dia) is the one I need to replace or get Skoda to as it is only 3 weeks out of warranty and has far too much play in it... I beleive that Skoda have redesigned it from a + shape design to a stiffer x shape design.

Back soon with an update, but if you know any more on this please let me know.

cheers.

well if you have looked at the console bushes and they need replacing you have 2 options..replace with the newer skoda items or cupra console bushes..

I need to check really if it is them that are moving though.

If I press on the top of the wheel shapely (as if kicking but not) the whole wheel and suspension strut moved backwards and then springs back into place. I am sure this is not correct as my wife's car doesn't move at all (not a Skoda but a renault though)

should there be movement in the wheel like that or totally stiff.

Also quick question while you replying to me (seeing as you seem to be a major modifier of the VRS). my EGR replacement hose keeps popping off end of allard replacement pipe. I can't attach it any tighter, is there anything that you can suggest to use to help secure it/stop it slipping off? cheers.

no it shudnt move like it is so obviously sumthin is worn....easier to get a mechanic to check so you know exactly wot the prob is..

the allard power pipe shud hav a slightly raised lip near the end so if the correct size jubilee clip is used i cant see how the pipe shud come off.....have you changed the 90 degree hose that connects to it since it was fitted?

Yes the Allard does have a lip on the end, but it is such a slight raise and it is so smooth and gently curves that for some reason the 90deg hose just seems to push off gradually under pressure. The correct jubilee is used as it was supplied by Allard with the pipe. I resorted to 2 jubilee's but still that worked its way off over a 2 day period.

Just wondered if there was anything that I could use to stick the hose on really and jubilee over the top. is getting really annoying to keep putting back on every 2 or 3 days.

As for mounts I will get the mounts checked as soon as I can. The car needs to go in for a service within 500miles anyway. Am sure my Skoda dealer will try and wiggle out of it though...

Too much movement in the components though for just wear and tear. if they are not going to change the units under warranty then I will definately go for the cupra ones from Awesome at only £21 the set.

neva really seen any1 havin probs with hose coming off...have you replaced the oem 90 degree hose when you fitted the power pipe?

Yes the hose was replaced with one that was supposed to do the trick, as in be slightly longer so can pull over the end of the Allard pipe.

oh well not to worry I will find a way to resolve

Thanks
