egr question - vacuum pipe

Featured Replies

I have disconnected the rubber vacuum hose on top of the egr , blocked off the egr and put a knot in the rubber hose that was connected

Is this right? Should i have the old hose knotted , block it completely or leave the hose open.....

Any openings should all be blocked / Blanked off..

no need to block the egr opening...remove the rubber pipe, block the end with a small bolt/golf tee etc and tuck/cable tie this pipe to one side.

Thanks :)

Anyone have a pic of this pipe? I want to do the EGR delete but cant afford a proper one :(

Also does this cause the CEL light to come on?

Cheers

as replied to you on other thread..

its the small rubber hose that connects to the ufo shaped diaphram on top of the egr valve..it may cause the cel light to activate ..if it does you'll need the fault function in the ecu mapped out.

hi, why carry out this mod? what is an EGR delete and why is it beneficial?

It removes the recycled exhaust gases from the inlet side of things, and stops soot build up in the inlet manifold. EGR only works at light engine loads, it also reduces combustion temperatures and slightly increases MPG at cruise speeds.

Environmentally, removing EGR increases NOX emissions.
