Aerial adaptor

Featured Replies

Hi i have installed an aftermarket cd player in my 2001 octavia vrs and and i'm now getting pretty poor radio reception, i have been looking at a few Aerial adaptors on ebay and web and was just wondering if they actually work and if so whats the best one to get? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apparentley, you have to wire it to the ignition somewhere to ge the 12v supply the antenna booster needs. This is a grey area and dont often get any straight answers. One guy in a thread said he wired it up in that fashion and when the radio was turned on all his dash lights came on too. Sounds very sketchy and like I said, can't seem to get any straight answers. This is all infomation I have found from this forum under the Furby section but I can't see them differing in methods too much with the octy. Its the same for all new cars now, they all need this rubbish booster thing? Somebody put all these questions and queries to rest please?

lol. I thought it sounded suspicious. I'm glad I didn't follow that advice. I'm not even gona bother and accept that my mp3 cd will do me finer than the radio.:giggle:

I've got one of those chinese nav units too, it came with a wire at the back for a live feed for a powered antenna, you just buy one of the adaptors for £15 from Halfords, attach the wire on it to the feed from the H/U, then plug the adaptor between the aerial socket on the H/U and the cable from the OE aerial.

I haven't yet bothered doing it on mine coz I listen to the radio once in a blue moon so couldn't even justify the £15 :D

Umm yeah but I think even after that theres a poor reception. Somehow I think this booster thingy needs 12v to work properly as far as I've gathered? :wonder:
