Grande Punto Sporting 1.9 multijet (sale or swop)

Featured Replies

Hello all, well after 3 happy years with my GPS I'm considering a change, due to change of circumstance, as I have just received a new company car (fiat 500) and I no longer need the fuel efficient deisel hatch, so I would like more of a weekend/holiday car that is bigger, and fuel efficiency isn't the highest requirement!

I am ideally looking for a mark 1 octy vRS or 1.8t 4x4 that is worth less than the fiat with cash my way, so ideally someone who has one of these and desires an economical deisel hatch, but would like to keep some performance!

I may consider selling outright, if the price is right, then hunting for my second car myself. I'm in no rush, I may decide to do the turbo upgrade to 200+bhp with custom map, it it doesn't sell!

right, history first. car is a 2007 (07) fiat grande punto sporting 1.9 multijet. I bought the car new, and had it mapped by angel tuning at 4,000 miles, giving 158bhp and 314lbs/ft of torque ( graph here http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/rollingroad/graph/rr.brisk_190708/turner.jpg), anyone who has been at a meet with me knows how well this car goes, just as quick as a remapped fabia vRS, but it handles and brakes better ;) mpg can get into the 60's if driven gently, I get between 47 and 55mpg depending on how I drive, it has now done 98,000 miles and has never let me down. It has a full fiat dealer service history, the service intervals are 18,000 miles. (90,000 mile cambelt changes, and has just had the belt done at its 90k service in April) all tyres are good, at least 6 mill, rear brakes were OE until the 90k service, where the rear pads were replaced, fornt pads/discs replaced TODAY 07/07/10. MOT until April 2011 (it flew through its first MOT without even an advisory, no problems) Tax until end sept 2010. group 6 insurance (old scale, dunno what it is in the new scale, but it costs me £300 fully comp a year) It has spent most of those miles being driven very gently at 30mph by learners (the dual controls are detachable) and a few of them hairing around the cumbrian countyside by me! lol.... it has the original turbo/clutch/gearbox (the strong 6-speed) and all operate "as new", any test drive welcome, my insurance covers you. it has a few stone chips, and the odd scrape to the alloys (not bad) but this just reflects normal 98k wear and tear.

reliability (here is a good review! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/articles/2007/06/cars/fiat/grande-punto/fiat-grande-punto-1-9-multijet-130-sporting-car-review)

during the time i've had it, this is whats been replaced under warrenty.

seat base, and drivers door handle (hazzard of the job!)

wheel bearings (all have been replaced at between 60-80k)

top mounts

drop links

EGR valve (it now has the "swirl" gasket in place, its like a blanking plate, but lets enough through to prevent any warning lights)

and , er..... thats it! If I think of any more I'll put them in, but its never really had problems, and has never broken down.

spec:

Insurance Group 6

ABS, ESP, Electronic hill holder,Air Conditioning (working perfectly) , Alloy Wheels (17's 205/45/17)

Electric Door Mirrors, Folding Rear Seats, Front Electric Windows, Front Fog Lights, Heated Door Mirrors, Height Adjustable Drivers Seat, Immobiliser

Remote Central Locking, Service Indicator, Side Airbags, Sports Seats, Steering Wheel Rake Adjustment, Steering Wheel Reach Adjustment, Traction Control, Trip Computer

NCAP 5, six airbags

Blue & me. this is a media control system. the car has 2x USB ports in the dash, you can connect your mem sticks/ipod ect,all controls are on the steering wheel and voice activated, I have an 8gig mem stick in with all my music on! they can also be used to upload software updates, or use the clever (black box type) ecodrive function, to monitor how you drive, then upload the info onto your computer for analysis. the system automatically connects to your telephone using bluetooth, your phone stays in your pocket, to call some one, you simply press the voice button on the steering wheel and say "Call dave" ect, the best kind of hands free, if you upload the latest software it will even read your text messages on the display! :)

variable power steering (normal and "city") daft if you ask me, but hey!

6 - speed gearbox.

If I remember anything else, I'll update! lol..

prices, well this gives you an idea of forcourt, this in an 07 with 50,000 miles http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fiat-Grande-Punto-Hatchback-SPORTING-/160431272932?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item255a72f3e4

and they want £6995

from a brisky member I'm only looking for £4500 this takes the mileage, and history into account, and considering the prices of fabia vRS's I think this is a bargin!

IDEALLY I want an octy vRS or 1.8t 4x4 thats worth about £2000 - £3000 with cash my way.

thnks for looking, remember I'm in no rush, I'd like to find the right car to swop this for, with some cash my way :) if you check out prices on e-bay motor trader ect, I think this is a bargin, its not advertised anywhere else.

just for a bump, even though at the NW meet, today vrs_dta's 200+ bhp fabia vRS, still couldn't loose me, due to the punto's much superior brakes and suspension (*awaits flaming) , just thought i'd note, it did SO well, I'm considering withdrawing it from sale to make the most of what is already a good car, if I can find JUST ONE company willing to make me a hybrid turbo! lol... please tuners if you are watching, make me a hybrid! :giggle:

*ducks Daves comments, thanks for the drive, it is bloody fast ;)

Still not made any progress with hybrid enquiries then Dave? :)

Some well priced earlier 2.0T Octy2 examples out there though - can see why you're thinking that way if you're not doing the miles anymore.

indeed Steve, it would cover about 5-10 k a year, I've seen a fair few with circa 90-100k for £5000 - £6000....

as for the hybrid, I finally got a concrete quote, only turbo dynamics would build one, and it would be a one off (good company though) they want £1000, then I would have to have it fitted, then I would have to get the custom map, so (although I would have a pretty unique car with a circa 210bhp punto!) for that money, I could trade it in for an octy II vRS, If I play it right, I may be able to get more in part ex than I could selling it, but hey, I'm still in no rush, so just waiting for the right kind of deal......

Fair enough - just seen your post about the ex-Police example :)

Yep, thought TD would sort you out. You're right though, it's a fair bit of money.

Good luck with the sale Dave, it is a cracking wee motor the Fiat.

as one of the wires has broken to the front offside ABS sensor, The ESP, ABS and traction, are not working, it just needs repairing or the wire replacing. I intend to get this done, but in the meantime, as it is, for a limited time, price reduced to £4000

edit: car now re-wired, all electrics working, price back at £4500
