Who Has A Full De-cat Exhaust System?

Featured Replies

I heard a rumour ;), that a few guys here are running with fully decatted exhaust systems. I guess that normally you would get a check engine light fault.

Is there a fix available for this?

Hi ya matey, try e-mailing elisesport (go to members at the top, goto E, click on his name and then click send email), IIRC he's one of the ones with a full de-cat.

I got a full de-cat system. Engine light is on! :(

Thought I sorted it. Removed the rear sensor and plugged the hole with a buggered sensor and tucked the rear one up out the way. Fooled it for 500 miles then on she came again!

More powerful though. Fooled it into thinking it's to lean so it richens the mixture. Having the rear sensor in seemed to make it think it was too rich and leaned it off!

If you find a way of cancelling the light without removing the bulb, please share it! ;)

Probably nothing short of a ECU change? Maybe Jabba can help?

Tried them whilst I was up there. they don't really know what to do about that. they haven't done anything like that themselves yet!

Oh well. Never mind!

I know someone that can create a CEL fix, as he has done one previously for new shape imprezas and Honda Civics where the same problem exists. Basically it is a small electrical unit that plugs into the ECU thru which the lambda signal bypasses. It then recorrects the lambda signal back to what the ECU is expecting. If nothing already exists then I guess it may be worth speaking to him.

Give me a shout if any of you know of an existing fix, if not......watch this space;)

anyone running withthe milltek sport cats? is this a better compromise?

Disco, talked to Michael today about this. He does have a fix of a sort.

This sounds like it could be leading somewhere with the man light problem. Keep us posted as to what we can possibly do to cure it!

ffelan: The sports cat certainly gives a decent performance increase over standard, and you get the benefit of running within emission laws. However there are always those that say 'to hell with it' and want full decat, and I myself feel the sports cat will be too restrictive for my plans.:)

Jon; I'll give you a shout tomorrow and you can update me.

Dont get me wrong i think cats are a stupid idea... would much rather run without them but can i do it without causing engine management problems?

so can i run without the cat without having warning lights and safe modes?

You can now! I'm now waiting on delivery of some fix units which fool the ECU into thinking the CATS are still in place whilst still allowing it to see correct lambda voltages:D:D:D Hurrah!

Anyone fancy a trip to Basildon tomorrow for decat development?;)

Damn. Can't make tomorrow. Could probably get Thurs or Fri off to come over, see if this works!

No worries about tomorrow, I could really have done with an Octavia to build an exhaust for:)

I'll PM you about the CEL fix in a minute.

For the guys they run the decat; How much is the difference in torgue? Do you have any numbers or it's just a feeling?

Did you also changed the pipe's diameter?

Do you have a noticable increase in exhaust noise? (this is what they told me...)

TIA

Stavros.
