First mod

Featured Replies

Hi guys had ma vrs about a year and a half and am wanting to get some good quality mods. dont want it remapped just yet. but thinkin of either lowering springs, replacement panel filter or a forge strut brace. what do you guys think is the most important mod out of all of these

cheers

Rear anti roll bar.

Whitleline and Jabba supply them.

Makes a good difference to handling.

Panel filter is not really worth it. best to stick to oem

Personally I'd say lowering it. The panel filter wont make much difference imo, and a strut without lowering is kinda pointless.

Mines not lowered as i use it for work everyday and fill the boot up with computer equipment...

Handling is a lot better with the rarb alone.

As a first mod the rarb is well worth it.

Then it depends where you want to take it.

Also if you have a blt engine you may want to do the hesitation fix.

And elephant mod etc....

to all that expensive stuff above I say PAH!!!

Get some Briskoda stickers. They're good for 10 BHP each!

+1 for the RARB, either whiteline or jabba :), it does make alot of difference with std suspension. imo initial and most effective mod money can buy (except for elephant hose mod, egr delete mod and pikey vent mod - which are all minor mods which one can do effectively 'free' to make car better)

Lowering the car doesn't change the amount of suspension you have, the springs are just stiffer so they are shorter to give the same range of movement. With something like the Eibach kit you hardly notice the change in spring rate in a straight line.

You don't say what kind of driving you do, and that's what should really drive your choice of modification.

Lowering the car will make it look better, but unless you do it with matched shock absorbers you risk a bouncy ride and it's not unknown for the change in resting position of the standard shock absorbers for them to fail if you just change the springs.

The panel filter will give you nothing over a clean OEM paper filter. The strut brace likewise - all it does is provide rigidity somewhere that isn't the first point of flex anyway. Where the car will flex is at the lower roll bars - there isn't a rear one so adding that makes the most difference and stiffening up the one at the front is a real beggar of a job. THe Whiteline is half the price of the JabbaSport but to be honest, it's rubbish in comparison. JabbaSport are proper Skoda tuners and if you want a RARB, that's the one to get.

Have you thought about a detail instead? £200 will get you 6-12 months of envious glances, actually increase the value of the car and make it easier to wash as well.

Depending on what your wheels are like a proper paint (not powder coat) refurb from someone like Lepsons can also make a huge difference to the looks.

If you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket then the RARB is a good purchase however I'd have to second the detail option.

Making your nice and clean with some good quality products and a little elbow grease deffo makes my car stand out more in the company car park :)
