Splitter idea.

Guy used garage door sealer strip to make his own lip spoiler/splitter. One's been done on Scoobynet too. Both look quite good.

Being in the building trade I had already thought of this idea, just waiting to find the

right kind of lipping.... Something I can use will turn up in a skip sooner or later :D

Looks pretty okay in the pics and will probably be lighter than the seat part.

Let's face it, the seat unit may be pretty BUT it does nothing but slow the car down really...

More weight and drag than a car without one I reckon...

Also it comes down too low making those damn square speedbumps a nightmare.

hehe the seat part isn't exactly heavy now is it ? ;) + It might create a little drag sure but it also provide some more down-force up front thus better traction :)

Don't see how the LCR splitter makes the square speed bumps tricky

My cars down about 80mm on coil overs with the LCR splitter fitted and i need to go over square speed bumps to get in and out of my girlfriends estate and for about a half a mile to get to her grans house plus any other speed bump i've came across and i've yet to hear it catch or rip it off and it's over speed bumps everyday

do you remember the top gear episode where they mod that Renault (something) to attempt to make it as quick as an evo and the last mod was a 'custom splitter'..?

reminds me a little bit of that when i was reading that link.:p

Eyres Monsell...? I'm sick of those damn speed bumps, seeing as they are hard to get over them evenly.

Plenty of estates though, I'm just rather hoping for someone being local to me...

I hate them aswell, especially when they're on a main road! Although it is good fun holding people up as I take them slow due to coil overs lol

It actually annoys me the speed people go over speedbumps at, do they have no regards for there car? Bet they all moan come mot time when they need new shocks and bushes but don't associate the speedbumps being connected to it aswell as the potholes!

Cant say i enjoy holding people up over speedbumps but it is a necessity to drive over then with due caution if you want your car to last. I normally give the car behind a little "thankyou" hand up gesture :)

Nah I don't cos they sit on my bumper and annoy me. Just because I care and they don't they deserve nothing! Annoys me even more when the kids are in the car! So I take great pleasure in annoying them and if they have anything to say about it so be it tbh. They'll just get told they're there to slow you down, and it's not my problem if you don't care about you're car but I do!

So, did you mean Eyres Monsell in Leicester, Juego or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Barking up the wrong tree buddy lol, I'm from Scotland. Never been in London in my life lol

Haha.. London.. You do make me laugh. :) God, is there NOONE from Leicester :( lol.

Lol I've never heard of that place so assumed london haha my bad

I just thought Scotland was a myth until you told me otherwise! :p

Lol I've had a bad stressful day and just skip read the posts, didn't see you're location etc my bad

Ah it's alright mate, we all have those kinda days. :)

my car came with the LCR Splitter on and iv lowered it 40mm and after a camping trip this weekend with unpredictable roads, and an uneven turn in the road using a turning spot off a single track road, i found my splitter on the floor :( the car looks poo without it, i didnt realise how much i dont like it without the splitter. it needs to go back on asap :) also its not really a weighty peice of plastic is it really.

looks a lot better than the Saab one to be fair

THis has been done on mX5's before in the states but not using Garage Door Sealer strip - using block paving edge support instead. Trouble is the stuff only seems to be available in the US (I've looked in local B&Q's which are the UK equivalent of Home Depot).

I've noticed that too. Only recourse seems to be to order the stuff on a roll from the USA. The profile used on the SAAB looks quite good. It's got two reasonable creases/angles in it and should retain its shape quite well. As a styling mod, it could be quite nice.

Is it not available here because it'd seal the door at the bottom? Aren't garage floors meant to be on a slight slope and (legally) drain out and under the door?

Not that I'm aware of. Mine certainly seemed to get wet when when it's been raining. Plus the usual leaves, detritus. Mum's had a garage buily recently (last 5 years) and that gets wet too. (down to crap implementation of thresholds and drainage channels - none - and no slope).
