Urgent - Advice needed for brake fluid hose

Featured Replies

Hello..!

Currently in process of 312mm conversion, I read on here before to move the brake hose from one caliper to the other I can clamp it down? :wonder:

Rang a friend to confirm and he suggested just bleed the whole system and clamping isnt good..? Could someone confirm for me that it is ok to clamp it? will I need anything specific to clamp it? I've got those pliers which clamp but I assume I need to find something more robust to hold the brake fluid pressure in..?

Thanks!

p.s. Never knew underside is SO rusty! :|

Hoses are not designed for clamping as they get damaged doing this ! Why would you damage a hose if you're going to have to bleed the system anyway ?

Most dealers would tell you if they see a damaged ( caused by clamping ) hose they will advise the owner to have it changed .

I thought if I keep the pressure in the hose and plug into new caliper I wont need to bleed the whole system (only needing to do front wheels). I guess there is no shortcuts ;) I'll just get new brake fluid oil and change the whole thing.

Thanks for your quick reply!

get a length of wood and press the brake pedal to the floor and jam the wood against the front seat...then undo the front hoses and you will only loss a minimal amount of fluid...you'll still need to bleed the front brakes whichever way you do it..
